Bookings are now open, with prices ranging from Rs 5.80 lakh to Rs 9.42 lakh (introductory ex-showroom pan-India).
Key Highlights
- 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift gets updated variants and cosmetic changes
- Powertrain options remain unchanged with petrol and CNG choices
- Prices range from Rs 5.80 lakh to Rs 9.42 lakh ex showroom pan India
- Key features include six airbags, 8 inch touchscreen, and wireless phone charging
- Rivals include Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and other sub 4m SUVs
Variant Lineup and Powertrain Options

The facelifted Hyundai Exter offers a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available in both petrol-only and petrol-CNG configurations. The CNG variant retains the dual-cylinder tank setup from the previous model and is paired exclusively with a manual gearbox. The petrol engine can be paired with either a manual transmission (MT) or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
The new variant nomenclature aligns with Hyundai's recent naming strategy, seen on the second-generation Venue and facelifted Verna. The base-spec HX 2 variant is available with both petrol and CNG powertrains, but only with a manual gearbox. The HX 3 variant is the entry point for buyers seeking an automatic (AMT) transmission. Variants HX 3, HX 6, and HX 8 are offered with all three powertrain options: petrol MT, petrol AMT, and petrol-CNG MT. The HX 4 Plus and HX 10 variants are available only with the petrol-AMT combination.
Features and Safety Equipment
The equipment list on the updated Exter remains similar to the pre-facelift version. Key features include cruise control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charging, and automatic climate control. Additional amenities include a height-adjustable driver seat, dashcam, and push-button start/stop.
Hyundai equips the Exter with several safety features. Six airbags are standard across all variants. Other safety equipment includes a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-start assist control, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rear parking camera.
Market Position and Competitors
The 2026 Hyundai Exter competes directly with the Tata Punch and Citroen C3. It also serves as an alternative to more premium sub-4m SUVs such as the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon.
Customers can book the updated Exter through Hyundai's official Indian website or at dealerships across India.
