The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun has received a facelift, following the Skoda Kushaq. The new Taigun now resembles a mini-Tiguan, featuring updated exterior styling and enhanced features across its six main variants: Comfortline, Highline, Topline, Highline Plus, GT Line, and GT Plus (Chrome and Sport). This article compares the entry-level Comfortline variant with the top-spec GT Plus Chrome and Sport variants to highlight differences in design, features, and specifications.
Key Highlights

- Base Comfortline and top GT Plus variants differ in wheels, lighting, interior materials, and technology
- All variants include six airbags and electronic stability control with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating
- Top GT Plus variants offer a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT and paddle shifters
- Prices range from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 19.30 lakh ex-showroom for the facelifted Taigun
Design and Exterior Features

Both Comfortline and GT Plus variants have a full LED lighting setup, including LED headlights and DRLs. The Comfortline uses a chrome strip connecting the headlights, while the GT Plus Chrome and Sport variants feature a connected LED DRL and an illuminated VW logo. The bumper design remains the same, with differences in inserts and finishes. Chrome strips and silver diffusers appear on the Comfortline and GT Plus Chrome, while the Sport variant uses glossy black elements.
The Comfortline comes with 16-inch steel wheels and full wheel covers. In contrast, the GT Plus variants have 17-inch alloy wheels, with dual-tone chrome and black finishes for the Sport, plus red brake calipers. Both variants have body-colored door handles and LED turn indicators on the ORVMs, but the GT Plus adds chrome or dark chrome finishes and GT badging.
At the rear, both variants share connected LED lighting and sequential turn indicators, but only the GT Plus has an illuminated VW logo. The base and top chrome variants use chrome finishes, while the Sport uses black for a sportier look.
Colour Options and Interior Differences
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun offers nine monotone colors. The Comfortline misses out on Deep Black and Carbon Steel Matte. The GT Plus Chrome and Sport have all colors and offer a dual-tone black roof with select shades. Inside, the Comfortline has a simple dual-tone black and beige dashboard with fabric seats and grey stitching. The GT Plus Chrome features Armur Grey glossy inserts, dual-tone leatherette seats with red stitching, GT branding, a leatherette armrest, aluminum pedals, and red ambient lighting.
Features and Technology

The Comfortline provides essential features: all four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, auto AC with rear vents, flat-folding rear seats, steering-mounted controls, and a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The GT Plus Chrome and Sport add a 60:40 rear seat split, push-button start/stop, auto headlights, an auto-dimming IRVM, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, an air purifier, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with an AI assistant, wireless connectivity, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, connected car tech, and an 8-speaker sound system.
Safety and Performance
All variants include six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts, a rear defogger, a rear wiper and washer, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control. Higher variants add hill-start assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera. The Taigun does not offer ADAS. It received a 5-star Global NCAP rating in 2022.
The Taigun GT is available with two turbo-petrol engines: a 1-litre 3-cylinder and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder. The GT Plus Chrome and Sport use only the 1.5-litre engine with a 7-speed DCT and paddle shifters. The Comfortline 1-litre MT weighs 1213 kg, while the GT Plus Chrome and Sport weigh 1317 kg and 1320 kg, respectively.
Pricing and Market Position
The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun starts at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The GT Plus trims reach up to Rs 19.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Taigun competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Skoda Kushaq Facelift, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, and Renault Duster.
