Yamaha has announced the launch of the 2026 YZF-R25 ABS and YZF-R3 ABS in Japan, scheduled for May 28. The main update for these lightweight supersport motorcycles is the introduction of new colour options. Prices for the 2026 Yamaha R25 start at JPY 690,800 (Rs 4.04 lakh), while the R3 starts at JPY 726,000 (Rs 4.25 lakh). The 70th Anniversary Editions are priced higher, with the R25 at JPY 710,800 (Rs 4.16 lakh) and the R3 at JPY 748,000 (Rs 4.37 lakh).

New Colour Options Detailed

The 2026 Yamaha R25 and R3 receive several new colour schemes. One is the signature Yamaha Racing Blue, which combines blue and black surfaces. This variant features blue wheels and white model lettering with aqua graphics. Another option is an all-black shade, offering a glossy finish on key parts like the fenders, fairing, suspension, engine casing, and fuel tank. The graphics and lettering on this variant use a grey tone.

A new light green colour, inspired by the Y2K fashion trend, is also available. This palette includes deep red accents on the fender tip, fairing, and fuel tank, with the rest of the surfaces in matte black. The 70th Anniversary Edition continues with a mix of red and white, blacked-out parts, sporty graphics, and golden USD forks.

Engine and Specifications

The Yamaha R25 is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 35 PS and 23 Nm of torque. The R3 uses a 320cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine, delivering 42 PS and 30 Nm of torque. Both engines share a stroke of 44.1 mm, but the R3 has a larger bore of 68 mm compared to the R25’s 60 mm.

Both models share the same dimensions and basic specifications. The seat height is 780 mm, making them accessible to a wide range of riders. Each bike features 17-inch wheels with 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres. Disc brakes are fitted at both ends for reliable stopping power.

Pricing and Availability

The 2026 Yamaha R25 is available in three new colour variants at JPY 690,800 (Rs 4.04 lakh). The 70th Anniversary Edition is priced at JPY 710,800 (Rs 4.16 lakh). The 2026 Yamaha R3 starts at JPY 726,000 (Rs 4.25 lakh), with the 70th Anniversary Edition at JPY 748,000 (Rs 4.37 lakh). These updates focus on new aesthetics, with no major mechanical changes reported.
