In a bid to expand its market reach amidst shifting subsidy schemes and evolving consumer demands, Ampere, a prominent player in the electric scooter segment, has announced significant price cuts for its entry and mid-range offerings. The move is aimed at increasing sales amid a transitional phase from FAME 2 subsidy to the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024 (EMPS), which offers reduced incentives.
The latest price adjustments are anticipated to make electric scooters more accessible to a broader spectrum of consumers, particularly at a time when the EV industry is navigating through subsidy alterations. However, it's worth noting that the introductory prices for the newly launched Ampere Nexus family electric scooter remain unaffected by these changes.
Revised Price Breakdown
SCOOTER | NEW PRICE (ex-showroom) | OLD PRICE (ex-showroom) |
Rs 59,900 | Rs 69,900 | |
Rs 84,900 | Rs 93,900 | |
Rs 94,900 | Rs 1,04,900 |
Features and Specifications
These electric scooters boast commendable specifications, rendering them suitable for daily urban commutes, with a claimed range of up to 70 km. Notably, the Reo Li Plus, with a top speed below 25kmph, exempts riders from the requirement of a two-wheeler licence or registration. Its competitors in this segment include e-scooters like Yulu Wynn and Zelio Gracy i.

The Magnus, positioned as a mid-level scooter, is available in two variants: LT and EX. The primary distinction lies in their battery capacities. The Magnus LT features a smaller 1.8kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 81 km, whereas the Magnus EX comes equipped with a larger 2.29kWh battery, extending its claimed range to 121km. Competing against models such as Kinetic E Luna and Lectrix EV LXG, the Magnus series caters to diverse consumer preferences.

Ampere Nexus Family E-Scooter
Launched in April 2024, Ampere Nexus family electric scooter introduces cutting-edge features, including a swingarm-mounted hub motor generating 4kW peak power and boasting a claimed top speed of 93 kmph. Its 3kWh battery pack delivers a claimed range of 136km, with a rapid charging capability from 0-100 percent in 3.3 hours.

Offered in two variants, ST and EX, with introductory prices of Rs 1,09,000 and Rs 1,19,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi, after EMPS subsidy), respectively, the Nexus competes fiercely with contenders like Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ola S1 Air, and Bajaj Chetak.
CarBike360 Says
The strategic reduction in prices across Ampere's product lineup aligns with the company's commitment to enhancing affordability and accessibility in the electric scooter market. With these revisions, Ampere aims to fortify its position in India's electric mobility landscape.
