Design and Features

The 2026 Audi A6L closely resembles the standard A6 in overall appearance but features several updates tailored for Chinese customers. The most significant change is at the front, where select trims offer a large hexagonal grille with a more detailed pattern and shiny trim. Thin LED strips flank the illuminated Audi logo, and metallic accents surround the grille and L-shaped side intakes. The Matrix LED headlights and OLED tail-lights match those on global A6 models, while the rear Audi logo now illuminates in red.
The A6L’s longer rear doors and increased wheelbase distinguish it from the standard model, providing more space for rear passengers. Audi offers exclusive 21-inch black alloy wheels and a Deep Ocean Blue paint option for this market. Inside, the rear seats are lengthened and thickened for added comfort, and the extended wheelbase further increases rear legroom. The cabin retains the triple-screen layout, Bang & Olufsen audio system, and an electrically dimming panoramic glass roof. Additionally, the China-spec A6L features 112 integrated LEDs with multiple color options.
Safety and Technology
The new Audi A6L includes advanced safety and driver assistance features. It offers up to 9 airbags and systems such as collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane-departure prevention, and automated parking assist. A head-up display and 33 sensors, including LiDAR, enhance safety and automation. When paired with the Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving suite, the A6L supports autonomous self-driving capabilities.
Engine Options and Performance
The Audi A6L comes with two turbocharged petrol engines, both paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The entry-level version uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system, producing 204hp and 340Nm of torque, driving the front wheels. A higher-output 2.0-litre variant delivers 272hp and 400Nm, with power sent to either the front wheels or all four wheels via the Quattro all-wheel-drive system. An adaptive air suspension is also available.
The top-tier A6L features a 3.0-litre V6 engine combined with an electric motor and a 1.7kWh lithium battery. This setup generates a total output of 367hp and 550Nm, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kph.
Market Position and Outlook
The Audi A6L targets chauffeur-driven buyers, a segment popular in China and India. Long-wheelbase luxury sedans from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, originally designed for China, have also found success in India. It remains uncertain whether Audi will introduce the new A6L to the Indian market.
