Audi India has issued a voluntary recall for 207 electric vehicles due to a brake-related issue. The recall affects the Q8 e-tron, Q8 e-tron Sportback, and their pre-facelift versions, the e-tron and e-tron Sportback. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) published this information on its website. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between February 2, 2018, and June 11, 2024. The announcement does not specify the number of affected units for each model.
Key Highlights
- Audi India recalls 207 electric vehicles over a brake servo push rod issue
- Recall includes Q8 e-tron, Q8 e-tron Sportback, and pre-facelift e-tron models
- Affected vehicles were manufactured between February 2018 and June 2024
- Owners will be contacted for free inspection and part replacement if needed
Details of the Brake Issue
The recall addresses a problem with the bolted connection for the brake servo push rod. This connection may not meet technical specifications and could loosen over time. If the connection loosens, the mechanical link between the brake pedal and the brake servo may not remain secure. In rare cases, if the connection becomes completely loose, the vehicle's emergency braking function can be activated. This function works by pressing and holding the electromechanical parking brake button on the center console.
SIAM stated that this emergency braking feature provides an additional safety measure. However, Audi is taking precautionary steps to ensure all affected vehicles are inspected and repaired if necessary.
Recall Process and Customer Support
Audi dealerships will contact owners of the affected vehicles. The inspection and replacement of the defective part will be carried out at no cost to the customer. Owners with questions or concerns can call Audi India's helpline at 1800-419-5757 or email customer.first@myaudi.in for assistance.
Currently, Audi does not have any electric vehicles on sale in India. The recall is part of Audi's commitment to safety and compliance with technical standards.
