Audi has unveiled the interior of its upcoming Q9 SUV ahead of its global debut later this year. The Q9 will serve as Audi’s new flagship SUV, focusing on luxury, advanced technology, and spaciousness. The model introduces several firsts for the brand, including electrically operated doors and a switchable panoramic roof.
Key Highlights
- Audi Q9 interior revealed ahead of global debut later this year
- Features include electrically operated doors and switchable panoramic roof
- Six and seven seat configurations with ventilated and massage seats
- Bang & Olufsen 4D audio system with seat-mounted actuators
- Expected to launch in India in 2027
Key Interior Features
The Audi Q9 will be offered in both six and seven-seat configurations. The six-seat version features two electrically adjustable captain seats in the second row. These seats provide active ventilation for both the seat base and backrest. Front seats also include ventilation and massage functions. All seats in the Q9 are partially power-adjustable as standard. For added convenience, the third-row seatbacks can be folded individually using electric controls.
One of the standout features is the introduction of electrically operated doors. This is the first time Audi has included such a feature in a production model. The doors can be opened or closed using the key, the myAudi app, the MMI system, the brake pedal, or the seatbelt buckle. Surround sensors with obstacle detection help prevent the doors from opening into nearby objects or approaching cyclists, which is particularly useful in urban environments.
Advanced Technology and Comfort
The Q9 features a large panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency. The glass roof is divided into nine sections, each of which can be turned opaque at the touch of a button. When the vehicle is parked, the roof automatically becomes opaque and returns to its previous setting when restarted. Higher variants include 84 integrated LEDs within the roof structure. These LEDs work with the ambient lighting system and offer 30 color themes.
Audi has equipped the Q9 with an updated Bang & Olufsen premium sound system that features 4D audio technology. In addition to traditional surround sound and headrest speakers, seat-mounted actuators allow occupants to physically feel bass and sound effects through the seats. The dashboard includes Audi’s latest MMI panoramic display setup. The center console offers dual wireless charging pads that comply with the Qi2.2 standard, supporting simultaneous fast charging for two smartphones and compatibility with MagSafe-enabled devices. The Q9 also features a large heads-up display, though full technical details about the infotainment system have not yet been disclosed.
Position in Audi’s Lineup
The Q9 will become Audi’s new flagship SUV, positioned above the Q7 and Q8. Additional details about powertrains, dimensions, and market rollout will be announced closer to the official debut. Audi may introduce the Q9 to the Indian market, but its arrival is expected only in 2027.
