The much awaited BMW M4 CS is scheduled to debut on October 4, 2024, by BMW India. This more aggressive version of the BMW M4 Competition is lighter and has better performance characteristics. Situated higher than the ₹1.53 crore M4 Competition, the M4 CS features an enhanced engine and several mechanical modifications to enhance driving dynamics, acceleration, and overall performance.
BMW M4 CS: Exterior Design
The M4 CS stands out because of its distinctive external design. It has a characteristic red-outlined grille and daytime running lights with a yellow tint, inspired by BMW's GT race cars. These understated but bold design elements highlight the CS model's proven track record of performance.
BMW M4 CS: Engine
An upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine, similar to the one found in the normal M4, powers the BMW M4 CS. The CS has 550 horsepower, which is 20 more than the 530 horsepower of the M4 Competition. It is derived from the limited-edition BMW M4 CSL. The higher turbo boost pressure, increased from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar, is the source of this extra power.
Although the torque remains unchanged at 650 Nm, the CS maintains peak torque for an additional 220rpm, holding it from 2,750rpm to 5,950rpm. This upgrade, combined with enhanced cooling systems and increased clutch oil supply, ensures the four-wheel drive system maintains its performance even during long track sessions. Bespoke stiffer engine mounts further improve the powertrain’s responsiveness, delivering quicker acceleration. The 0-100kph sprint is achieved in 3.4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the M4 Competition.
BMW M4 CS: Chassis and Weight Reduction
The CS is 20 kg lighter than the M4 Competition thanks to a number of lightweight pieces, including a titanium exhaust silencer and parts made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), such as the transmission paddles, center console, and numerous interior trims. Along with firmer springs, anti-roll bars, and recalculated stability control, the car's chassis has also been updated to deliver improved wheel control, less body roll in tight turns, and better steering precision.
Lightweight wheels with staggered widths—19 inches up front and 20 inches up back—serve the BMW M4 CS. Standard on these are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires; a track-specific Cup 2 R compound is an option.
