Key Programmes in China and South Korea
South Korea: Stator Assembly for Electric SUV
In South Korea, BorgWarner has secured a stator assembly contract for an electric B-segment SUV programme. This builds on a previous supply relationship, where BorgWarner provided hairpin eMotor technology for a multi-purpose vehicle platform. Production for the new stator assembly is scheduled to start in September 2027.
China: S-Winding Technology for Hybrid Vehicles
In China, BorgWarner will supply its patented S-winding technology for global plug-in hybrid electric vehicle platforms. The motor is designed for use with 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged engines. It enables compact integration and delivers strong power density for hybrid drivetrains. Production for this programme is expected to begin in February 2027.
China: Generator Motor for Hybrid Transmission
The third award in China involves supplying a generator motor for a three-speed hybrid transmission system. This motor will use BorgWarner’s ultra-short hairpin winding technology. The company states this technology improves efficiency, allows compact packaging, and supports reliable performance.
Regional Impact and Future Outlook
BorgWarner’s new contracts highlight its growing presence in the Asian electrification market. The company will support both domestic and export vehicle programmes. These awards demonstrate BorgWarner’s commitment to providing advanced motor technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles in China and South Korea.
