The Bovensiepen Zagato coupe, the first independent model from the Bovensiepen family, will cost nearly four times as much as the BMW M4 on which it is based. Autocar UK reports that only 99 units will be produced globally. The car debuted at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy last year and is named after the Italian design house responsible for its unique styling.
Key Highlights
- Bovensiepen Zagato coupe limited to 99 units globally
- Priced at €369,495 in Germany nearly four times the BMW M4
- Powered by a 3.0-litre straight-six engine with 611hp and 700Nm torque
- Features extensive carbon fibre components and bespoke craftsmanship
- Deliveries expected to begin later this year with high personalisation options
Pricing and Market Position
The Bovensiepen Zagato is priced from €369,495 in Germany, which is about Rs 4.07 crore. This price places it in the same league as the Ferrari Purosangue and above grand tourers like the Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin Vanquish, and Ferrari Amalfi. Despite its smaller six-cylinder engine, the Zagato is the most expensive model ever associated with the Bovensiepen family, surpassing even rare Alpina cars.
This model marks a new direction for the Bovensiepen family after selling Alpina to BMW. With Alpina now under BMW’s ownership, future Alpina models will focus on luxury and comfort, positioned above standard BMWs but distinct from M performance cars. BMW plans to reintroduce Alpina models starting with the 7 Series and X7, emphasizing bespoke finishes and luxury features.
Technical Specifications and Features

The Zagato uses a BMW-sourced 3.0-litre straight-six engine that produces 611hp and 700Nm of torque. Bovensiepen claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of over 300kph. The coupe features bespoke Bilstein dampers with Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus modes. It also includes a lightweight titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic, which is about 40 percent lighter than a standard exhaust.
While based on the BMW M4, the Zagato coupe has extensive changes. These include new front and rear sections, a reshaped bonnet, a revised side profile, and Zagato’s signature double-bubble roof. Many components are bespoke and made from carbon fibre. Each unit requires over 250 hours of handcrafted work at Bovensiepen’s facility in Buchloe, Germany.
Dimensions and Personalisation
The Zagato measures 4,943mm in length, 1,913mm in width, and 1,394mm in height. This makes it 142mm longer and 5mm lower than the BMW M4. Each car is built to order, allowing for a high degree of personalisation. The optional Lavalina leather interior alone takes over 130 hours to complete. Customers can also select finishes for exterior carbon-fibre elements and brake calipers.
Deliveries of the Bovensiepen Zagato are expected to begin later this year. Each unit will be individually configured according to customer preferences.
