Key Features of Khalapur Hub
The Khalapur hub has a total installed capacity of 720 kW. It features five dispensers with ten charging points, each capable of delivering up to 360 kW in boost mode. This setup aims to reduce wait times for EV drivers, especially during high-traffic periods on the expressway.
Tata.ev customers can receive a discount of up to 25 percent at this station. The hub is designed to support the growing demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure along major highway corridors.
Expansion Plans and Company Operations

The Khalapur hub is part of a broader initiative by ChargeZone and Tata.ev to deploy over 100 charging hubs along national highways. Vivek Srivatsa, chief commercial officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said the collaboration aims to create a fast, reliable, and accessible charging network. Tata.ev now operates more than 200 mega charging hubs across India.
ChargeZone manages over 15,000 charging points at more than 1,200 locations in India and the UAE. The company, based in Vadodara, Gujarat, focuses on high-speed, smart-grid-enabled charging solutions for passenger cars, buses, and trucks.
Industry Context and Future Outlook
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., part of the Tata Group, is India's largest manufacturer of four-wheeler electric vehicles. The company expects that GST-led affordability will help sustain demand for electric vehicles. Recent funding will support Tata's expansion in key urban and semi-urban markets. Revenue growth has been driven by strong demand from original equipment manufacturers and the ramp-up of new facilities.
Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of ChargeZone, described highway charging infrastructure as essential for intercity electrification. He said the Khalapur hub sets a new standard for public charging infrastructure in India.
CarBike 360 Says
This new 720 kW mega-charging hub on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway significantly strengthens India’s highway EV charging backbone, reducing range and time anxiety for long‑distance travelers. With ChargeZone’s extensive network and Tata.ev’s focus on ultra‑fast, reliable charging, such collaborations are set to accelerate mass‑scale EV adoption and make cross‑city electric journeys as seamless as those undertaken by conventional vehicles in the near future.
