Classic Legends has added another milestone to its engineering journey by securing a new design patent in India, further strengthening its position as a manufacturer that puts rider needs at the center of motorcycle development. The newly granted patent highlights the company’s focus on combining practical innovation with thoughtful design, rather than adding features for the sake of it. The patent is valid for 20 years from March 21, 2023, under the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970. The innovation was first seen on the 2025 Yezdi Adventure and reflects Classic Legends’ approach of solving real-world riding challenges through engineering-led design.

A Practical Innovation for Everyday Riders

The newly patented feature includes an adjustable visor and speedometer setup. This allows riders to modify the position of both elements based on their height and riding posture. The idea is simple but meaningful: it improves visibility, comfort, and ease of use, especially during long rides or off-road conditions. Instead of treating design as a purely visual exercise, Classic Legends has focused on improving the interaction between the rider, the motorcycle, and the surrounding environment. The adjustable setup ensures better readability of the instrument cluster and reduces strain, making it a genuinely rider-friendly solution.

Building a Strong Patent Portfolio

This is not the first time Classic Legends has received recognition for its engineering work. Earlier, the company won a patent for its Airfilter Multifrequency Resonator, used in its 650cc motorcycles such as the BSA Gold Star and BSA Scrambler sold in international markets. Unlike the conventional resonators that work at a single frequency, this patented system reduces unwanted intake noise across the engine’s entire rev range. Which resulted in a smooth and more refined riding experience without compromising performance, showing how small technical changes can bring noticeable benefits.

Pushing the Mid-Capacity Segment Forward

Classic Legends has also played a significant role in shaping the mid-capacity motorcycle segment in India. The company introduced its liquid-cooled 334cc engine early on, at a time when many manufacturers were still relying on air-cooled setups. This move helped raise standards for performance, cooling efficiency, and durability. This engine platform, known as the Alpha 2, now supports a range of models and continues to be a core part of the brand’s product lineup. Alongside this, the company was among the first to bring features such as six-speed gearboxes, assist and slipper clutches, traction control, and advanced braking systems to this category, always with a focus on real riding value.

Design That Follows Function

On motorcycles like the 2025 Yezdi Adventure, Classic Legends’ design philosophy becomes clear. Elements such as the centrally routed exhaust are not just visual choices but are aimed at improving heat management and rider comfort. Similarly, the twin headlamp setup is designed to provide strong illumination while giving the bike a distinct identity. Even on models like the Yezdi Roadster, rider ergonomics drive design decisions. Adjustable seating options, balanced riding posture, and accessible seat heights are all outcomes of early engineering choices rather than afterthoughts.

Engineering Vision Beyond India

Beyond mid-sized motorcycles, Classic Legends has also showcased its capabilities with the BSA Gold Star, which features one of the largest single-cylinder 650cc engines currently in production in India. This underlines the company’s ability to work across different engine sizes and market demands. With multiple patents won and filed, and a steady focus on in-house research and development, Classic Legends continues to build motorcycles that value long-term usability over short-term trends. The latest patent is another step in that direction, reinforcing the brand’s belief that good design always starts with the rider.

Verdict

Classic Legends continues to stand out by focusing on real rider needs rather than chasing feature lists. This new patent reinforces its engineering-led approach, where design serves function. By solving practical riding issues and investing in long-term usability, the brand is building motorcycles that feel purposeful, durable, and genuinely rewarding for everyday riders and enthusiasts alike.
