Delhi Parking Charges Doubled: New Rules Under CM Rekha Gupta as GRAP 3 & 4 Kick In
With GRAP 3 and 4 enforced, CM Rekha Gupta's Delhi government has doubled parking charges to curb vehicle use and pollution. From Rs 40 to Rs 80 per hour in key zones.

Delhi commuters are waking up to a steep hike in daily expenses. In a decisive move to tackle the severe air quality crisis, the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi Government has officially announced that parking charges will double across the national capital. This move comes as part of the strict implementation of GRAP Stages III and IV (Graded Response Action Plan).
If you are a car owner in Delhi, here is everything you need to know about the new parking rates, exemptions, and the government's long-term plan to fix the city’s pollution.
Why are Delhi Parking Charges Doubling?
The primary goal of the Rekha Gupta government is to discourage the use of private vehicles during peak pollution months. By increasing the cost of parking, the administration aims to push residents toward public transport like the Delhi Metro and the city's rapidly growing fleet of electric buses.
According to the recent notification, the fee hike is a mandatory deterrent under GRAP III (Severe) and GRAP IV (Severe Plus) pollution alerts.
The New Delhi Parking Rate List 2026
The hike applies to all authorized parking sites managed by the MCD and NDMC.
Vehicle Category | Normal Rate (Per Hour) | GRAP 3 and 4 (New) |
Cars/Four-Wheelers | Rs 20 | Rs 40 |
Two-wheelers | Rs 10 | Rs 20 |
Buses/Heavy Vehicles | Rs 150 | Rs 300 |
Crucial Exemption: Parking spaces managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are currently exempt from this doubling of charges to encourage commuters to use the Metro for last-mile connectivity.
Rekha Gupta’s 4-Year Blueprint for a Cleaner Delhi

Beyond temporary parking hikes, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to overhaul Delhi's urban infrastructure:
- Smart Parking Management: Transitioning from roadside parking to automated multi-level facilities in high-footfall areas like GK-1 and Punjabi Bagh.
- ANPR Technology: Installation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems at all 62 identified congestion hotspots and border entry points to monitor polluting vehicles.
- Public Transport Expansion: A target to deploy 14,000 electric buses by 2029, with a pilot project starting January 31, 2026, for e-autos and bike taxis at key metro stations.
- Zero-Tolerance Zones: Heavy penalties for parking on road edges and central verges to ensure smooth traffic flow.
