The Desmo450 MX uses a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame. The design minimizes welds to improve structural rigidity and reduce weight. The motorcycle has a wet weight of 104.8kg, excluding fuel.

Key Features and Specifications

The suspension system includes fully adjustable Showa units, offering 310mm of travel at the front and 301mm at the rear. Brembo provides the braking components, ensuring reliable stopping power.

The Desmo450 MX comes with a comprehensive electronics package. Features include traction control, launch control, engine brake control, and two riding modes. Riders can adjust these settings via WiFi using the X-Link app.

This motorcycle is designed exclusively for off-road racing. It lacks lights and mirrors and is not street legal. Maintenance requirements are demanding, with oil changes needed every 15 hours. Piston replacement and valve clearance checks are required every 45 hours.

Market Context and Competitors

The Desmo450 MX is only the second full-fledged European motocross bike officially available in India. The KTM 450 SX-F, currently listed at Rs 10.25 lakh, is more affordable than the Ducati. However, the KTM's price has not been updated on the KTM India website after the GST 2.0 implementation. An increase is expected, but a significant price gap between the two models will likely remain.

The Kawasaki KX450 is another motocross bike officially sold in India. It is currently listed at Rs 9.92 lakh. These models provide Indian riders with more options in the competitive motocross segment.
