The new Gurugram-Sohna National Highway in the National Capital Region (NCR) was opened to traffic yesterday. This will allow daily commuters from Sohna to Gurugram to enjoy a shorter commute time. The 22 km long Gurgaon-Sohna National Highway's first pictures were shared on Twitter by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways. The announcement is a huge relief for commuters who used to encounter significant traffic on the NH8 as they traveled from Sohna to South Gurugram.

On both sides, three-lane service roads have been built to help with local traffic flow. With an aggregate elevated segment of around 7 km and a capital investment of roughly Rs 2000 crore, the new section of elevated roads has been built to access the 6 Lane regulated corridor. On both sides, three-lane service roads have been built to help with local traffic flow. Nitin Gadkari stated in a series of tweets that this segment would also offer access to Delhi and Gurgaon via the Delhi-Mumbai expressway. In an effort to facilitate a seamless transition between NH8 and Sohna, the proposed elevated road will avoid several crossings and densely populated regions.

As was already indicated, this is good news for those who commute to work, as Sohna and South Gurugram have recently emerged as preferred locations for both office buildings and housing developments. Nevertheless, it is also causing a rise in traffic in the region, making the new National Highway urgently necessary. In an effort to facilitate a seamless transition between NH8 and Sohna, the proposed elevated road will avoid several crossings and densely populated regions.
Additionally, the elevated section contributes to reducing accidents along the same stretch by preventing locals from these densely populated areas from crossing the highway or driving on it without checking for oncoming traffic, which was one of the main causes of accidents along this stretch of NH8 and Sohna Road.
