Hero MotoCorp is set to launch its latest electric scooter, the VIDA VX2, on July 1, 2025. The new model not only increases the company’s EV offerings but also marks the debut of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model under the VIDA brand aimed at reducing upfront costs and accelerating EV adoption across India.
The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)
In a shift from normal EV ownership models, the VIDA VX2 will lead the BaaS system, allowing users to subscribe to the battery separately from the scooter. This saves the cost of the battery, which forms a big portion of the vehicle’s price, from the chassis. Through this “pay-as-you-go” structure, customers can opt for flexible monthly subscription plans based on their individual usage patterns. The initiative is expected to lower the entry cost for potential buyers and ease the access to electric mobility in urban and semi-urban markets.
Charging and Service Network Nationwide
To support the VIDA lineup, Hero MotoCorp has invested in a wide infrastructure network. Customers will have access to:
- Over 3,600 fast-charging stations
- More than 500 service points
- Availability across 100+ cities in India
This wide infrastructure is designed to increase ownership convenience, making EV adoption easier and more practical for everyday commuters.
A Rebadged, Budget-Friendly Version of VIDA Z
The VIDA VX2 is a more affordable version of the Vida Z, first showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo. Positioned below the existing Vida V2 lineup, the VX2 is expected to come in multiple variants, tentatively named Lite, Plus, and Pro, catering to a broader range of users.
Design and Features
Visually, the VX2 is available with the following features:
- Matte yellow paint scheme
- LED projector headlamps and LED taillights
- LED sequential turn indicators
- 12-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
- Front disc brake
However, unlike the premium Vida V2, the VX2 features a physical key slot instead of a smart key system and uses a smaller TFT instrument display, likely opting out of the touchscreen interface. The scooter also comes with simpler body panels and a single-piece seat, replacing the V2’s more premium split-seat design.
Performance
Despite the reduced features, the VX2 retains the removable battery system found on the Vida V2, offering two battery capacity options:
- 2.2 kWh
- 3.9 kWh
The scooter is expected to deliver a claimed range of up to 165 km, depending on the variant, making it suitable for daily commuting needs.
Pricing and Market Positioning
The VIDA VX2 is projected to be priced around INR 65,000 (ex-showroom), making it one of Hero MotoCorp’s most affordable electric scooters to date. With this pricing strategy, the company is targeting the budget-conscious commuter segment, especially first-time EV buyers.
Hero MotoCorp aims to position the VX2 as an alternative to both petrol-powered scooters and higher-priced EVs, connected by the affordability and flexibility of the BaaS subscription model.
Launch Date and Further Announcements
Hero MotoCorp is set to officially unveil the VIDA VX2 along with complete details about its variants, pricing structure, and BaaS plans on July 1, 2025.
