Hero MotorCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer is preparing to expand its electric portfolio, by launching its two or three electric vehicles in the coming future. According to sources, Hero has been working on Splendor Electric which is likely to launch in 2027. However, details on this are still unknown.
Hero Splendor EV: A Futuristic Approach
A sneak peak from reports, Hero MotoCorp is working towards launching its very own range of electric motorcycles. Currently, the company offers Vida electric scooters. Reportedly, the company is working on half a dozen new vehicles, expected to launch in the next two to three years.
Since, Splendor EV is the most significant and ambitious project of Hero, hence, it is internally codenamed as AEDA.It’s being developed at Hero’s technology center in Jaipur, for an expected launch in 2027.
Besides Splendor Electric, Hero is also charging ahead with the launch of the Lynx electric dirt bike in 2026. Primarily targeting developed international markets, Lynx electric dirt bikes might produce around 10,000 units per annum. We can also watch for the launch of Acro learner electric dirt bike for kids along with Lynx, which was recently patented in India.
The report mentioned Project ADZA, which is in the making and would provide two premium electric motorcycles. In terms of performance, these electric motorcycles will be equivalent to ICE motorcycles of 150cc and 250cc capacities. These motorcycles will address a young audience that focuses on style and aspirations. The target seems to be high volume.
Figuring Hero Splendor Electric is aimed at budget commuter space and daily business users, the annual estimate looks elaborate at 2.5 lakh units of electric motorcycles (Splendor Electric-2 lakh units and ADZA Project-50,000 units by 2027-2028).
Potential Rivals
The Hero Splendor Electric will face competition not only from established players but also from emerging EV startups.
- TVS iQube ST: An electric scooter with an impressive range for utility purposes.
- Bajaj Chetak Electric: Premium design and strong performance to its credit.
- Ola S1 Air: Marketed as a budget e-scooter loaded with features.
- Other electric bikes: Electric motorcycles from brands Revolt and Tork Motors.
Summing Up
The Hero Splendor Electric, is a bold move towards the future of electric mobility in India. Amid the changes that the EV market will bring, Hero’s decision to electrify its most iconic motorcycle reflects its vision of sustainable transportation.
If executed well, it could very well follow in the footsteps of its petrol-powered predecessor and solidify Hero's leadership position in India's EV revolution.
