Honda and Suzuki Monthly Performance
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) delivered 810 units of the Activa-e and QC1 in June. This is the first time Honda has crossed 800 units in a single month. The figure represents a 78 percent year-on-year increase over the 454 units delivered in June last year. Cumulative retail sales of the Activa-e and QC1 have now reached 6,254 units at the end of June.
For the first half of 2026, Honda delivered 2,389 electric scooters. This is a 68 percent increase from the 1,419 units sold in the first half of 2025. Suzuki posted its best-ever monthly sales in June, retailing 523 e-Access units. This contributed to a first-half total of 2,042 units for Suzuki.
Market Share and Brand Comparison
Earlier in the year, Suzuki had outsold Honda in the January-April period. However, Honda's stronger performance in May and June—1,335 units compared to Suzuki's 875 units—has given Honda a 347-unit lead at the halfway point of 2026.
Yamaha entered the Indian electric vehicle market in March 2026 with the EC-06 model. In June, Yamaha sold 136 units, bringing its cumulative total to 418 units since launch.
Combined six-month sales for Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha reached 4,849 units. This represents a 0.49% share of the 9,71,023 electric scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds sold in India during the first half of 2026.
Outlook for Japanese Electric Scooters
The data shows a steady increase in sales for Japanese electric scooter brands in India. Honda and Suzuki continue to compete closely, with both achieving significant growth over the previous year. Yamaha's recent entry adds further competition to the segment. The overall market share for these brands remains under one per cent, but their growth rates indicate rising consumer interest in Japanese electric scooters.
CarBike 360 Says
The record-breaking performance of Honda and Suzuki in June 2026 underscores the rapid transformation of India’s two-wheeler market toward electrification. With rising consumer demand, improved infrastructure, and expanding product portfolios, both brands are well-positioned to sustain this momentum. The coming months will be crucial as competition intensifies and EV adoption continues to accelerate across segments.
