Design and Styling Features
The Keeway Hypevolt-R stands out for its unique design among electric scooters in India. It features a high-set handlebar and a radical fascia with a vertically stacked headlamp. Angular arrow-like panels flank the headlamp, while the centre spine resembles that of the Aerox.
The under-seat panels are angular, and the short tail ends with a minimalistic look. The rear wheel is equipped with a motorcycle-style tyre hugger. These elements combine to give the Hypevolt-R a distinctive road presence.
Performance and Battery Details
The scooter uses a mid-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that produces 12 kW of peak power. Keeway claims the Hypevolt-R can accelerate from zero to 40 km/h in 2.3 seconds. The top speed is rated at 115 km/h, which is higher than some competitors in the segment. Riders can choose from three power modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.
The Hypevolt-R is powered by a 5 kWh battery pack consisting of two removable batteries placed parallel to each other. The scooter offers an IDC-certified riding range of 180 km on a single charge. The batteries can be charged either on or off the vehicle, providing flexibility for users. Charging from zero to 80% takes about 3 hours using the in-vehicle charger, which is efficient for this battery size.
Features and Practicality
Keeway has equipped the Hypevolt-R with several safety and convenience features. These include traction control, dual-channel ABS, hill hold control, hill descent control, intelligent cruise control, blind spot detection, and a rear reverse camera. The scooter displays all information on a five-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity. For storage, the Hypevolt-R offers a 27-litre under-seat compartment, making it practical for daily use.
Pricing and Availability
The Hypevolt-R is available at an introductory price of Rs. 1.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes it about Rs. 5,000 more expensive than the Ather 450 Apex. Keeway India has announced that this price is temporary and may increase in the future. Customers can book the scooter online by paying Rs. 5,000 as a booking amount.
