Honda City Facelift Launch Set for May 22: Key Design and Feature Updates Revealed
The facelifted Honda City will launch in India on May 22, 2026, featuring updated design elements, possible new features like a 360-degree camera, and is expected to retain its existing engine options with a slight price increase.

Honda is preparing to launch the facelifted City sedan in India on May 22, 2026. The new model, now in its fifth generation, has been seen undisguised before its official debut. Spy shots reveal significant updates to the design and features, addressing long-standing market expectations.
Key Highlights
- Honda City facelift to launch in India on May 22 2026
- Design updates include new DRLs and blacked-out chrome elements
- Facelift may add 360-degree camera or camera-based ADAS
- Expected to retain 1.5-litre petrol and petrol-hybrid engines
- Price likely to increase by Rs 20000 to Rs 50000 over current model
Exterior and Design Changes

The facelifted Honda City introduces a new design language. The front now features modern lightbar-style daytime running lights (DRLs). Blacked-out chrome elements replace the previous chrome accents on the grille, window line, and door sills. A front camera is visible, suggesting the addition of a 360-degree camera system or camera-based advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).
The side profile remains largely unchanged from the previous generation. The overall silhouette is similar, with no major visible modifications. The alloy wheels appear blacked-out, likely reserved for higher trims, but the design closely resembles that of the outgoing City.
At the rear, the taillamps have been tweaked and now extend slightly onto the quarter panel. These changes give the facelifted City a refreshed yet familiar appearance.
Interior and Feature Updates

While the spy shots do not provide a full view of the interior, some updates are apparent. The new City is expected to receive a larger infotainment system with an updated user interface, replacing the current 8-inch unit. A new interior theme and additional feature upgrades are also likely.
The current Honda City offers an 8-inch infotainment system, semi-digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, automatic air conditioning, and cruise control. Safety features include six airbags, ADAS, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Engine Options and Pricing
The facelifted City is expected to retain the same powertrain options as the previous model. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine with an eCVT (continuously variable automatic transmission).
The current-generation Honda City is priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The updated model is likely to see a price increase of Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 over the outgoing version.
Market Position and Competition
The sedan segment in India is shrinking due to the growing popularity of SUVs. The Honda City now competes mainly with the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus. These rivals may also receive facelifts in the near future.
