Honda will expand its India lineup with two significant launches on May 22, 2026. The company will introduce an updated Honda City and the all-new Honda ZR-V. These launches aim to strengthen Honda’s position in both the midsize sedan and premium SUV segments.
Key Highlights
- Honda to launch updated City and new ZR-V SUV in India on May 22 2026
- ZR-V will be a premium CBU SUV priced between Rs 40 lakhs and Rs 50 lakhs
- City facelift to feature interior upgrades and continue with current engines
- ZR-V to offer a 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain with around 180 HP
Key Launch Details
The Honda City facelift will target the midsize sedan market. This update marks the second facelift for the current-generation City, following its previous refresh in 2023. The all-new Honda ZR-V will enter the premium five-seat SUV space as a completely built unit (CBU). The ZR-V is expected to be priced between Rs. 40 lakhs and Rs. 50 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will compete with models such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq.
Honda ZR-V Features and Specifications
The Honda ZR-V adopts a crossover-inspired design, featuring softer lines compared to the more rugged Honda Elevate. Internationally, the ZR-V measures around 4.5 metres in length, and the India-spec version is expected to retain similar dimensions. Key features likely include a large freestanding touchscreen, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, and a comprehensive ADAS package.
Under the hood, the ZR-V is expected to use a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder strong hybrid powertrain. This engine produces around 180 HP and is paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. The ZR-V will be positioned at the higher end of Honda’s India portfolio, aiming to enhance the brand’s premium image.
Honda City Facelift Updates

The Honda City facelift will feature modest exterior revisions, including updated lighting elements, bumpers, and new alloy wheel designs. The most notable changes are expected inside the cabin. Honda aims to address the feature gap compared to rivals such as the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Potential additions include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a larger infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 360-degree camera.
Mechanically, the City facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine and the strong hybrid setup. Both manual and CVT transmission options will be available.
Strategic Implications for Honda
With these two launches, Honda is balancing its strategy. The City facelift aims to maintain competitiveness and volume in the sedan segment. The ZR-V, as a premium import, is expected to elevate Honda’s brand positioning in India.
