Hyundai Reports 7.63% YoY Decline in May’2025
In May 2025, Hyundai Motor India faced a 7.63% decline in YoY sales, but the positive news for the brand was a 3.06% surge in its export sales compared to last year.

Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced the vehicle sales for May 2025. Hyundai reported that the brand sold 58,701 units, including 43,861 units of domestic sales and 14,840 exports to global markets.
In the same month last year, the Korean automobile manufacturer managed to sell 63,551 units, comprising 49,151 units of domestic sales and 14,400 units of export, reflecting a sharp decline in its domestic sales while the modest increase in export figures. In May 2025, Hyundai Motor India faced a 7.63% decline in YoY sales, but the positive news for the brand was a 3.06% surge in its export sales compared to last year.
Mr. Tarun Gard, full-time director and COO at HMIL stated that the biannual maintenance shutdown at the brand’s Chennai facility affected the availability of critical models. He confirmed the brand’s positive outlook for future growth and steady demand for Hyundai cars in domestic and international markets.
If we look at the MoM data, Hyundai sold 44,374 units in the domestic market in April 2025, reflecting a 1.16% decline in May 2025. While the Korean automaker faced low sales volume, it consistently noticed an increased demand for the Hyundai Creta, which remained the brand’s top-selling SUV model.
Considering the positive response to this model, Hyundai is aiming for more sales of the Creta SUV. The automaker is also gearing up to launch the facelifted version of the Hyundai Venue with new features and software upgrades.
