Hyundai has officially unveiled the all-new Palisade, its flagship SUV, for the South Korean market. This marks a significant milestone, as the global debut, initially planned for a later date, has been brought forward. The decision reflects the growing demand for petrol-hybrid vehicles in key international markets, prompting Hyundai to fast-track production and global rollout plans.
A Sophisticated Design
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade features a completely overhauled design, balancing boxy proportions with rounded edges and a premium touch of chrome.
Front Fascia
The front of the Palisade is defined by a tall grille with five horizontal slats, adorned with the Hyundai emblem above it. Flanking the grille are vertically stacked headlamps with a unique slatted design. The bottom-most light bar is wider than the others, adding visual distinction. The U-shaped front bumper, finished in brushed aluminum, and the clamshell bonnet with its rectangular indent enhance the SUV’s premium appearance.
Side Profile
The side profile showcases angular lines, a large glasshouse, and flared wheel arches. The turbine-style 21-inch alloy wheels add a sporty touch, while silver accents on the D-pillar and roofline, reminiscent of the Creta further elevates the design. The roofline slopes subtly, transitioning seamlessly into the angular rear glass and upright tailgate.
Rear Design
At the rear, the Palisade features vertically aligned tail-lamps with six slatted light elements, the top and bottom ones extending onto the sides. The clean and simple tailgate design includes Hyundai branding, a centrally placed license plate housing, and chrome accents. The rear design exudes modern elegance, drawing subtle comparisons to the Range Rover when viewed from certain angles.
Interior and Practical Features
Hyundai has elevated the Palisade’s interior, evident from the beige-themed cabin featuring premium materials and innovative design touches.
The double-layered dashboard integrates two horizontal screens for instrumentation and infotainment. Oval-shaped AC vents on the corners and centrally positioned vents above the climate controls add to the minimalist yet functional design.
The wood-finished steering wheel, reminiscent of a Range Rover, offers multiple controls for ease of use. The center console houses a generous armrest with dual openings, a cubby hole, and a wireless charging slot. Interestingly, it can be converted into a middle seat for the front row, making the Palisade a nine-seater in select markets.
While Hyundai has yet to release images or details of the second and third rows, the cabin appears equipped with cutting-edge features, including a 360-degree camera, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), heated and ventilated seats, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof.

Innovative Center Console
The center console features a generous armrest with dual openings, a cubby hole, and a wireless charging slot. Notably, the console can be converted into a middle seat for the front row, allowing the SUV to accommodate nine passengers in select markets.
Additional Features
Although Hyundai has not revealed images of the second and third rows, the cabin appears to be equipped with premium features such as a 360-degree camera, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), heated and ventilated seats, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof.
Next-Generation Hybrid Powertrain
The new Palisade introduces Hyundai’s Theta 3 petrol-hybrid powertrain, marking a shift towards sustainable mobility. This 2.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, paired with an electric motor, replaces the outgoing Lambda petrol engines. The hybrid system reflects Hyundai’s commitment to cleaner and more efficient technologies, catering to the increasing global demand for hybrid vehicles.
Global Launch and India Prospects
The details revealed so far pertain to the South Korean market, but Hyundai is expected to unveil the global variant in the coming months.
In India, Hyundai is yet to confirm the Palisade’s launch. However, the automaker has ambitious plans to introduce hybrid powertrains for models like the Creta, Alcazar, Verna, and Tucson by 2027. This move indicates Hyundai’s focus on electrified mobility in the Indian market.
