AI Assistant and Multimodal Features

At the core of the updated app is TARA, ixigo’s AI-powered travel assistant. TARA supports voice, text, and tap-based interactions in English, Hindi, and Hinglish. The assistant manages travel queries, plans itineraries, and provides personalized recommendations based on user preferences and booking history.

TARA can handle complex requests, such as hotel searches with specific requirements and multi-city itinerary planning. It also delivers contextual information, including flight schedules, gate details, weather updates, and lounge recommendations. These features are designed to make travel planning more efficient and tailored to individual needs.

Real-Time Trip Management Tools

ixigo has introduced a new feature called Trip Mode. This tool consolidates post-booking information, such as boarding passes, terminal details, boarding information, and baggage belt updates, into one interface. Trip Mode also provides real-time alerts and travel recommendations during the journey.

The app now includes “agentic travel flows,” where AI agents perform specific travel-related tasks in the background. These tasks include sending boarding passes via WhatsApp, integrating with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and sharing documents with Digi Yatra. The system can monitor flight schedules, notify users of delays, and assist with refund management if cancellations occur.

For hotel bookings, ixigo’s AI agents can coordinate with hotels before check-in to confirm room readiness. Many of these features are opt-in and require user permission, ensuring privacy and control over data sharing.

Personalization and User Interface Enhancements

The redesigned app features a personalized homepage that adapts to each user's travel history and behavior. The interface has been refreshed and now offers a dark mode option for improved usability.

These changes aim to enhance the user experience and make navigation more intuitive. Rajnish Kumar, Group Co-CEO, and Aloke Bajpai, Group CEO of ixigo, stated that AI-led and agent-driven workflows will play a larger role in travel planning and assistance in the future.
