Kia accelerates EV push in India with charging station rollout ahead of Carens Clavis EV launch.
Kia India is rolling out a robust EV charging network ahead of its Clavis EV launch. This initiative aims to boost consumer confidence, ease EV adoption, and position Kia as a leader in India’s electric vehicle market.

Kia India is rising on its upward trajectory in its electric vehicle (EV) strategy by expanding its charging infrastructure across the country. Kia India has made a bold move to set up a comprehensive EV charging ecosystem ahead of the launch of the all-new Kia Carens Clavis EV. This decision will result in a seamless commitment to EV ownership. To address the key barriers to EV adoption, Kia India has developed a K-Charge platform that is integrated with the My Kia app for consumers.
Kia India is ready for the launch of its first-ever made-in-India premium EV, the Kia Carens Clavis EV. India’s first-ever 7-seater MPV is set for an official debut on July 15. The Kia Carens Clavis EV will share its platform with its standard Carens and will cater to families and urban commuters. The EV will offer two battery pack options. The base variant will have a 42 kWh battery, while the top-line variant will have a 51.4 kWh battery pack.
Both models will be loaded with enhanced features and advanced amenities. These include dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS.
Kia’s Charging Station Setup in India

To anticipate the Clavis EV launch, Kia has introduced the K-Charge initiative, integrating over 1,000 EV charging stations nationwide into its MyKia app. This K-Charging platform will offer great access to a fast-growing network of charging setups in India. This network is established in partnership with five major charging point operators—Statiq, ChargeZone, Relux Electric, Lion Charge, and E-Fill Platform.
To make it easier for consumers or buyers, Kia’s charging stations are strategically located at authorized dealerships and high-traffic urban areas, with fast DC chargers (up to 150 kW) supporting rapid charging needs.
How Does This Strategy Benefit Kia and Its Customers?
Kia’s investment in charging infrastructure offers several advantages: The brand has also announced plans to expand the K-Charge charging network to over 20,000 by the second quarter of 2026. Regarding this, they are also offering advanced home charging solutions for 7.4 kWh and 11 kWh chargers.
The integration of charging services into the MyKia app will not only help the company but also be helpful to consumers by streamlining the process, eliminating the need for multiple apps, and providing real-time information on station availability and payments.
Current Status of EV Charging Stations in India
India’s EV charging ecosystem has seen tremendous growth in recent years. As of April 2025, there were 26,367 public EV charging stations nationwide. The K-Charge EV charging stations will be set up under the PM E-Drive scheme by the end of FY26. Leading private players like Tata Power, Statiq, and ChargeZone operate extensive networks, particularly in metro cities and along major highways.
Conclusion
Kia’s decision to set up a vast number of charging stations is a proactive approach in expanding its charging infrastructure ahead of the Clavis EV launch. It resonates with the clear understanding of the growth and infrastructure of EVs in the future. Kia not only supports its product launches but also contributes to the broader adoption of electric vehicles in India.
