US Launch Timeline and Specifications

Kia unveiled the new-generation Seltos at the New York Auto Show. The petrol-powered Seltos will reach US dealerships between June and August 2026. The hybrid variant will follow later in 2026. Unlike the Sportage, EV6, and EV9, which are built in the US, the Seltos is manufactured in South Korea and exported to America. This approach will continue for the new model.

The 2027 Seltos hybrid for the US will use a refined 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid engine. Transmission options include a six-speed dual-clutch unit and an electronic all-wheel-drive (eAWD) system. The eAWD version will have improved traction and may feature a rear-mounted electric motor. Standard variants are expected to be front-wheel drive. Detailed technical specifications have not been released, but the setup may resemble the Kia Niro and Hyundai Kona hybrids.

Indian Market Plans

For India, the new Seltos hybrid is expected to use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with hybrid technology, producing 115 hp. Kia aims for high localization to keep the Seltos hybrid competitive against rivals such as the Toyota Hyryder. The Indian launch is anticipated in 2027.

Dimensions and Features

The US-spec Seltos will have dimensions similar to the global model. Compared to the outgoing version, the 2027 Seltos is 40 mm wider and has a wheelbase increased by 60 mm, now measuring 2,690 mm. Top trims offer a ground clearance of 206 mm. Exterior updates include new lighting elements and a redesigned grille, matching the India-spec version.

Inside, the Seltos features nearly 30 inches of combined digital displays, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The model offers class-leading second-row legroom, a 360-degree surround view monitor, and a blind spot view monitor. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a memory function for the driver’s seat.
