Kia's upcoming compact SUV, likely to be named 'Syros' based on a recent patent filing, has been spied during testing, revealing several intriguing interior details. The Syros is positioned to fill the gap between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia India’s lineup and will serve as a lifestyle SUV with a front-wheel-drive configuration.
Kia Syros to Offer More Features Than Sonet
The Syros is expected to come with additional features compared to the Sonet and will be available in both petrol and electric powertrains, making it a versatile option in the compact SUV segment.
Launch and Expected Price
The petrol-powered Kia Syros is set to debut towards the end of this year, with sales beginning early next year. The electric variant is expected to launch by mid-2025. The Syros is likely to be priced slightly higher than the Sonet, which currently starts at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
Exterior and Feature Highlights
Previous spy images have confirmed several premium features in the Syros. These include a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, and all-LED lighting with vertically positioned LED DRLs. The SUV is also expected to come with diamond-cut alloy wheels, ventilated and powered front seats, multiple drive and traction modes, a climate control system, leatherette upholstery, and a Bose audio system.
Interior Design and Features
The latest spy shots provide a glimpse into the Syros’ interior, showcasing a brand-new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. This design, inspired by the K4 sedan that debuted globally earlier this year, is a first for Kia cars in India. The steering wheel also features an offset Kia emblem.
Additionally, the interior is equipped with dual displays, similar to those in the Seltos.
These likely include a 10.25-inch touchscreen alongside a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Below the touchscreen, there are a few physical buttons, including a scroll wheel for volume adjustment, adding to the SUV's modern and user-friendly design.
Powertrains and Platform
The Syros will be available with both petrol and electric powertrains, with the electric version expected to be added to the lineup approximately six months after the internal combustion engine (ICE) version launches. All versions of the Syros will share the same platform and will be front-wheel drive only. A hybrid version may also be introduced at a later stage.
