Kia Tasman

With its unique style and cutting-edge technology, the Kia Tasman stands out in the pickup market. In the first half of 2025, the Kia Tasman is scheduled to make its debut in Korea. It will thereafter be introduced in Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia anticipated to be a major market. Notably, the Jeddah International Motor Show is set to host the international debut.

In addition to the Tasman, Kia is developing an electric truck that should be ready by 2027; recent sightings during testing in the US may have given away this fact. In order to avoid the 25% Chicken Tax, Kia would have to manufacture the vehicle at its Georgia facility if it intended to sell it in the United States.

Striking Exterior Design

The unusual front fascia of the Kia Tasman, with its vertical headlamps pushed to the sides, makes it stand out. It looks robust thanks to a large, protruding hood and an enormous Kia logo. The body-on-frame architecture, as opposed to the unibody design seen in its rivals, the Ford Maverick and Honda Ridgeline, challenges the presumption that this would be a Telluride pickup.

Interior Features

The Tasman's interior provides a more automobile-like atmosphere in contrast to its tough appearance. With a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5-inch display for several purposes, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, it offers a contemporary triple-screen arrangement. Kia keeps the conventional switchgear with many buttons for often used tasks, even if the large displays improve usability.

The useful features, such as a low-range mode switch and a locking differential button, will be appreciated by truck aficionados. Interestingly, a plaque on the center console shows the pickup's measurements: 212 inches long, 75 inches wide, and 75 inches tall, with a 128.7-inch wheelbase.

Engine Options and Performance

In addition to two- and four-wheel-drive options, the Tasman will be available with both six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions, depending on the market. The truck's 2.5-liter gasoline engine in Korea produces 277 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach 62 mph in 8.5 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 115 mph.
The Tasman's 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine in Australia produces 207 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to reach 62 mph in 10.4 seconds. Both engines have a maximum towing capability of 7,716 pounds and a 21.1-gallon fuel tank. The cargo bed has a volume of 41.4 cubic feet, and the payload capacity is between 2,242 and 2,635 pounds.

Advanced Suspension and Off-Road Capabilities

Kia designed the Tasman with a stiff rear axle with leaf springs and a double-wishbone front suspension. With watertight couplings for some internal components, the vehicle is built for off-road excursions and can ford water up to 31.5 inches deep at 4.3 mph. There are several drive modes for different terrains, such as desert, mud, snow, and rock, and all-terrain tires with 17- and 18-inch wheels.

Interior Comfort and Storage Solutions

Kia boasts second-row legroom, headroom, and shoulder space that are all class-leading, along with rear seats that can recline 22 to 30 degrees. Valuables are kept safe in hidden storage compartments under the back seats. Convenient grab grips in the A-pillars, a foldable console table, a Harman Kardon sound system, and two wireless charging pads are further inside highlights.

Customization Options and Accessories

Kia intends to launch with 13 accessories, such as side stairs and wheels in the beadlock type. The lighted bed may be set up with a roll bar, a sliding tonneau cover, or a canopy with butterfly doors. Additionally, there is a roof rack that works with a rooftop tent.
