KTM has unveiled its new creation, named 990 RC R, prototype. This fully featured marvel is all set to rule the sports bike segment around the world after its launch, expected to be in 2025.

After the success of KTM’s limited edition RC 8C series, which received unprecedented demand from enthusiasts, with entire production runs vanishing within minutes, the company is again going to launch a new limited edition in 2025.

Anticipated Success

Building upon the resounding success of its limited-edition RC 8C series, KTM has demonstrated its prowess in captivating the market. The unprecedented demand for these exclusive bikes, with entire production runs vanishing within minutes, foreshadowed the inevitable arrival of a production-ready model.

Innovative Design

Details on the 990 RC R prototype remain scant, cloaked in secrecy beneath its camouflaged exterior. However, glimpses of its construction reveal a meticulously crafted trellis frame, complemented by an aluminium sub-frame, a blacked-out swingarm, and top-tier Brembo brakes.

Performance Prowess

At the heart of this powerhouse beats a 990cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, a refined iteration of the renowned 990 Duke power plant. Boasting an impressive output of 126bhp, the RC R promises an exhilarating ride. Its six-speed gearbox, equipped with a standard quickshifter, offers seamless transitions, while the option for race shifts adds a competitive edge.

Enhanced Ergonomics

Ergonomics have been a focal point in the development of the 990 RC R, striking a delicate balance between track performance and street comfort. While its aggressive stance caters to the demands of high-speed racing, riders can expect a degree of comfort for everyday use. Though specifics on features are scarce, anticipation mounts for the inclusion of riding modes, a multi-traction control system, and advanced IMU-related functionalities.

Market Impact

With the production-ready model all set to launch in the European markets in less than a year, KTM aims to establish a strong presence in the highly competitive sports bike arena. Positioned among rivals like Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R (in India), Honda CBR600RR, Yamaha R9, and Ducati Panigale V2 (in India), 990 RC R will redefine performance standards and ignite passions of enthusiasts worldwide.
