The company has not yet released specifications, launch markets, or a production timeline for the new electric dirt bike. However, LiveWire confirmed it will advance Dust Moto’s platform towards production and plans to share more product details in the second half of 2026.

Key Highlights

  • LiveWire acquires Dust Moto assets to enter electric off-road motorcycle market
  • No specifications or launch timeline released but production details expected in late 2026
  • Acquisition combines Dust Moto’s off-road expertise with LiveWire’s global resources
  • LiveWire expands beyond on-road electric motorcycles with this strategic move

Acquisition Expands Off-Road Capabilities

This acquisition provides LiveWire with a direct route into the electric off-road motorcycle market. Previously, LiveWire was known for its road-focused electric motorcycles and its association with Harley-Davidson. By integrating Dust Moto, LiveWire gains a focused off-road product direction. Off-road motorcycles require instant torque, low mechanical complexity, and easy control at low speeds. Electric dirt bikes naturally meet these needs by eliminating the clutch and gearbox and providing immediate power delivery.

Details such as battery capacity, motor output, range, charging time, suspension components, wheel sizes, and weight remain undisclosed. Dust Moto contributes off-road expertise, while LiveWire offers engineering support, manufacturing capabilities, and a global marketing, sales, and service network. This combination aims to strengthen LiveWire’s position in the electric powersports sector, a journey that began with the STACYC electric balance bikes.

Strategic Direction and Future Plans

LiveWire CEO Karim Donnez stated that the acquisition supports the company’s goal to build on its leadership in on-road electric motorcycles while expanding into the off-road segment. He described Dust Moto as a strategic fit for LiveWire’s broader electric two-wheeler and powersports strategy. The acquisition positions off-road motorcycles as a core part of LiveWire’s future plans, not just a side project.

Dust Moto CEO Colin Godby commented that joining LiveWire provides the scale, resources, and global reach needed to bring its electric off-road bike to a worldwide audience. The partnership is expected to accelerate the development and eventual launch of the new electric dirt bike platform.

Market Outlook and Potential Applications

LiveWire has not announced specific plans for launching the Dust-based electric dirt bike in India. However, electric off-road motorcycles could appeal to closed-course riding, training schools, private farms, motorsport parks, and beginner-friendly dirt riding experiences. The acquisition reflects growing interest in electric powersports and signals further developments in the sector.

CarBike 360 Says

LiveWire’s move to acquire Dust Moto highlights its intent to diversify beyond urban electric motorcycles and tap into the growing off-road EV segment. By leveraging Dust Moto’s expertise, the brand is poised to build a competitive electric dirt bike platform. This strategic step could redefine its market position while accelerating innovation in the evolving electric two-wheeler space.
