Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV, codenamed B07, has been seen testing on public roads for the first time. The prototype, heavily camouflaged, signals that development is progressing ahead of its planned 2027 launch. - Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV, codenamed B07, has been seen testing on public roads for the first time.
- The prototype, heavily camouflaged, signals that development is progressing ahead of its planned 2027 launch.
- The B07 is expected to be the production version of the BE.07 concept, first revealed in August 2022 alongside four other Born Electric concepts: XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09.
- Since 2022, Mahindra has launched three production electric vehicles based on these concepts.
Mahindra's Electric SUV Strategy
Since 2022, Mahindra has launched three production electric vehicles based on these concepts. The BE.05 became the BE6, the XUV.e9 launched as the XEV 9e, and the XUV.e8 entered production as the XEV 9S. These models have established Mahindra in the premium electric SUV market. The BE6 and XEV 9e together have sold over 41,000 units within the first 10 months, strengthening Mahindra’s electric vehicle strategy.
The B07 will be the fourth model in the Born Electric series. Mahindra executives expect it to become a major volume driver for the brand. The B07’s entry is seen as crucial for scaling up the company’s electric vehicle sales in the coming years.
Mahindra B07 Design and Features

The test vehicle’s silhouette suggests a more conventional SUV design compared to the sportier BE6. This matches the Mahindra BE.07 concept’s upright stance and clean body lines. Design patents indicate the production model will keep signature C-shaped LED lighting at the front and rear. Some aggressive design elements from the concept may be toned down for production.
The BE.07 concept measured about 4,565 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,660 mm high, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase. Interior details of the test vehicle are not visible, but the concept featured a wide triple-screen dashboard, minimal physical buttons, and a panoramic sunroof. Mahindra’s recent electric SUVs offer large digital displays, advanced connectivity, ADAS, and over-the-air updates. The B07 is expected to include similar technology.
Platform, Performance, and Launch Timeline

The B07 will use Mahindra’s INGLO platform, shared with other Born Electric SUVs. This platform supports high-capacity battery packs, strong electric motors, and advanced software. Battery options may include 59 kWh and 79 kWh packs, as seen in BE6 and XEV models. The real-world driving range is expected to exceed 500 km.
Performance figures could reach around 230 PS of power and about 400 Nm of torque. This would offer strong acceleration, consistent with Mahindra’s sporty electric vehicle positioning. Mahindra has confirmed the B07 will launch in 2027, though the final production name may change. The B07 will play a key role in expanding Mahindra’s Born Electric lineup and strengthening its position in India’s growing electric SUV market.

Conclusion
With the Mahindra B07 now testing on Indian roads and a 2027 launch locked in, the brand’s Born Electric strategy is clearly shifting into a higher gear. If Mahindra delivers on the promised range, performance and in-cabin tech, the B07 could emerge as a key volume driver in the premium EV SUV space and significantly strengthen Mahindra’s electric portfolio.
