Mahindra Thar Sees April 2026 Price Hike Up to Rs 43,500 Across LXT Variants
Mahindra has raised Thar prices by up to Rs 43,500 in April 2026, affecting only LXT variants. The base AXT 1.5L Diesel RWD remains at Rs 9.99 lakh. A facelifted Thar with new features is also under testing.

Mahindra has increased prices for the Thar SUV in April 2026, with hikes reaching up to Rs 43,500. This follows a previous price increase of up to Rs 20,000 in January 2026. The Thar remains a popular off-road SUV in India since its 2020 launch.

Details of the April 2026 Price Hike
The base price for the Mahindra Thar stays unchanged at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the AXT 1.5L Diesel RWD variant. This entry-level model has not seen a price change despite two hikes in three months. The most significant increase affects the top-spec LXT 2.2L Diesel 4WD AT, which now costs Rs 17.62 lakh, up by Rs 43,500 from its previous price of Rs 17.19 lakh.
Mahindra offers the Thar in two trims: AXT and LXT. The AXT variants retain their old prices. Only the LXT variants have received price adjustments, depending on engine and drivetrain options.
Variant-Wise Price Changes
The LXT 1.5L Diesel RWD MT variant has the smallest hike among LXT trims, rising by Rs 30,500 to Rs 12.69 lakh from Rs 12.39 lakh. The LXT 2.0L Petrol RWD AT now costs Rs 14.49 lakh, up by Rs 30,000 from Rs 14.19 lakh.
The LXT 2.0L Petrol 4WD MT variant has increased by Rs 37,500, bringing its price to Rs 15.26 lakh from Rs 14.89 lakh. The LXT 2.2L Diesel 4WD MT variant now stands at Rs 16.08 lakh, up by Rs 39,500 from Rs 15.69 lakh.
The LXT 2.0L Petrol 4WD AT has seen a hike of Rs 41,500, with a new price of Rs 16.86 lakh, up from Rs 16.45 lakh. The largest increase is for the LXT 2.2L Diesel 4WD AT, now at Rs 17.62 lakh, up by Rs 43,500 from Rs 17.19 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
Upcoming Facelift and Features


Mahindra is testing a facelifted Thar, expected to launch soon. The update will bring exterior changes such as LED headlights, C-shaped LED DRLs, revised bumpers, and larger 19-inch alloy wheels. Interior upgrades may include a 10.25-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, and automatic climate control. Testing has been ongoing, and the launch could occur in the coming months.
