Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has integrated its myHyundai app with over 30,000 electric vehicle charging points across India. This expansion comes through partnerships with several charge point operators (CPOs). The move aims to provide EV owners with broad charging access, making it one of the largest integrated charging networks available through a single platform in the country.
Key Highlights
- Hyundai app now connects to over 30000 EV charging points across India
- The company operates 183 DC fast-charging stations in 105 cities with plans for 600 by 2030
- Charging stations support speeds from 60 kW to 240 kW and are open to all EV users
- Hyundai's network has delivered over 5 million kWh and helped avoid 35 lakh kg CO₂ emissions
Charging Network Expansion
Through these collaborations, Hyundai offers charging facilities within an average radius of 25 km nationwide. The network covers key highways, including Delhi-Gurgaon-Jaipur, Mumbai-Pune-Bengaluru, Mumbai-Ratnagiri-Goa, Chennai-Vellore-Bengaluru, and Hyderabad-Kurnool-Bengaluru. This widespread access supports long-distance travel for electric vehicle users.
In addition to these partnerships, Hyundai is also expanding its own DC fast-charging infrastructure. The company currently operates 183 DC fast-charging stations in 105 cities. Hyundai plans to increase this number to 600 stations by 2030. These stations will be located in cities, along highways, and at Hyundai dealerships.
Charging Station Features and Usage
Hyundai's DC fast-charging stations support charging speeds from 60 kW to 240 kW. The stations are open to all electric vehicle users, regardless of brand. Since January 2023, Hyundai's proprietary charging network has served over 300,000 EV users and delivered more than 5 million kWh of energy. The company estimates this has helped avoid about 3.5 million kg of CO₂ emissions through June 2026.
The myHyundai app provides several features for EV owners. Users can discover charging locations, navigate to them, book slots in advance, and make digital payments for charging services. Hyundai has positioned its charging stations near eateries and food outlets on highways and in cities. This allows EV owners to rest and refresh while their vehicles charge.
Future Plans and Industry Context
Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to enter the mass-market EV segment. The company will launch a new SUV EV within the current financial year. This expansion aligns with broader developments in India's automotive sector, including new regulations and investments in electric mobility.
Hyundai's efforts reflect a growing focus on electric vehicle infrastructure and accessibility. The company aims to support the increasing adoption of EVs by making charging more convenient and widespread for users across India.
