Maruti Suzuki Achieves Record 23.4 Lakh Annual Production, Plans Major Expansion
Maruti Suzuki set a new annual production record of 23.4 lakh units in FY ending March 2026, leading India's passenger vehicle segment and planning a major capacity expansion with a new Gujarat plant.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported its highest-ever annual production, reaching 23.4 lakh units in the financial year ending March 2026. This marks the fourth consecutive year of production growth for the company. Maruti Suzuki is now the only passenger vehicle manufacturer in India and the only Suzuki global facility to surpass this milestone.
Key Highlights
- Maruti Suzuki produced a record 23.4 lakh vehicles in FY ending March 2026
- Five models each surpassed two lakh units in annual production
- A new plant in Gujarat will add 10 lakh units to yearly capacity
Production Milestone and Industry Standing
The company outperformed every other original equipment manufacturer in India's passenger vehicle segment. Data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) confirms Maruti Suzuki's leadership position. Five models—Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga, and Baleno—each crossed the two-lakh-unit production mark during the year. This reflects strong and consistent demand for the company's hatchback, sedan, and SUV offerings.
Globally, no other Suzuki manufacturing facility has reached this production volume. Maruti Suzuki's achievement highlights its significance within Suzuki Motor Corporation's worldwide operations.
Manufacturing Capacity and Expansion Plans
Maruti Suzuki currently operates four plants in India. These are located in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda in Haryana, and Hansalpur in Gujarat. Together, these facilities have a combined installed capacity of 24 lakh units per year.
In March 2026, the company identified land for a fifth plant at Khoraj Industrial Estate in Sanand, Gujarat. This new facility is expected to add 10 lakh units of annual capacity. Once operational, Maruti Suzuki will move closer to its target of producing around 40 lakh units per year.
Factors Behind the Record Production
Management attributed the production record to several factors. These include strong relationships with component suppliers and dealers. The government's implementation of GST 2.0 also played a role, helping to boost demand during a key period in the fiscal year.
Suzuki Motor Corporation's ongoing investment in India as an export hub has supported Maruti Suzuki's expansion plans. The company continues to focus on increasing capacity and meeting both domestic and international demand.
