Maruti Suzuki Car Sales in October 2024 | Best Ever Monthly Sales Performance
Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in October 2024 with 2,06,434 units, a 3.62% YoY increase. Strong export growth offsets domestic sales decline.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) sold 2,06,434 vehicles in October 2024, which was 3.62% more than the 1,99,217 units sold in the same month the previous year. This was the company's best monthly sales ever. Maruti Suzuki achieved a new milestone as a result of the remarkable export figures, which supported total development despite a decline in domestic sales.
Decline in Domestic Sales
In October 2024, Maruti sold 1,59,591 units, down 5.03% year over year from 1,68,047 units sold in the same month the previous year. However, sales climbed from 1,44,962 units in September 2024, resulting in a month-over-month (MoM) growth of 10.09% for the corporation.

Exports grew significantly, rising from 21,951 units in October 2023 to 33,168 units, a 51.10% YoY increase. This was an increase of 11,217 units in volume. Select models that Maruti Alto supplies under the Toyota brand had 10,136 units sold, a significant YoY increase of 90.35% from 5,325 units in October 2023.
Decline of Mini Segments
Demand for small cars, such as the Alto and S-Presso models, declined. Sales decreased from 14,568 units in October 2023 to 10,687 units. Additionally, year-to-date (YTD) sales decreased, from 87,118 units in FY 2024–25 to 74,474 units in FY 2024–25.
Compact Car Segment Performance
Demand declined for the small vehicle market, which includes well-known models like the Baleno, Celerio, DZire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR. In October 2023, sales dropped from 80,662 units to 65,948 units. Sales increased to 4,32,369 units on a year-to-date basis from 4,99,591 units the year before. Future sales are anticipated to increase with the November 11 debut of the new DZire, which is set to provide numerous segment-first innovations.
Mid-Size Sedan Segment
Ciaz sales in the mid-size vehicle segment fell from 695 units in October 2023 to 659 units in October 2024. Ciaz's year-to-date sales fell sharply to 4,800 units from 8,136 units sold at the same time last fiscal year. Maruti's passenger vehicle sales decreased overall as a result of this decline, coming in at 77,294 units for the month and 5,09,643 units year-to-date.
Utility Vehicles See Strong YoY and YTD Growth
The utility vehicle range from Maruti Suzuki, which included the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, performed well. In October 2024, sales climbed to 70,644 units from 59,147 units the year before. Additionally, this category's year-to-date sales increased from 3,65,615 units in the prior fiscal year to 4,14,309 units.
Sales of the van sector fell somewhat, from 12,975 units in October 2023 to 11,653 units YoY. Sales also slightly decreased year-to-date (YTD), falling from 80,694 units in FY 2023–24 to 80,253 units. Despite this decline, 1,59,591 passenger cars were sold domestically in October 2024.

Maruti's growing range of utility vehicles and strong export results demonstrate its changing approach to successfully navigating both local and foreign markets.
