Mercedes-Benz India has recently launched the facelift for its GLE Coupe, an SUV-coupe version of the GLE, starting at Rs 1.85 crore before optional features. The refreshed second-gen GLE 53 Coupe boasts some cosmetic changes, but the mechanical aspects remain largely untouched. The AMG 53 form, with added options, can escalate the price to Rs 2.25 crore. This launch coincides with the introduction of the GLA facelift at Rs 50.50 lakh.

The heart of the facelift remains the same - a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 435hp and 560 Nm. What’s new is the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid system, offering an extra 20 hp and 200 Nm when required. This upgrade results in a quicker 0-100kph sprint time of 5 seconds, a 0.3-second improvement from its predecessor. The top speed remains at 250 kph.
Aesthetic Tweaks Inside-Out

While the GLE 53 Coupe facelift maintains a familiar exterior, a closer inspection reveals redesigned headlights, tail-lights, and subtle tweaks to the front bumper. Interior changes include a new part-leather part-Alcantara steering wheel, while the rest of the cabin aligns with the refreshed GLE model from the previous year. Notable features include a customisable head-up display, additional steering wheel control buttons, and optional extras like AMG Track Pace software and Acoustic Comfort Package.
Market Positioning
As of now, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe does not have any direct rivals in the market. The closest competitor is Porsche’s Cayenne Coupe, priced at Rs 1.42 crore, equipped with a 353hp, 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine.

All-Electric Concept EQG Debuts in India
In addition to the GLE Coupe facelift, Mercedes-Benz India has also introduced the all-electric Concept EQG to the Indian market. The production-spec model is expected to hit later this year, showcasing the iconic boxy design with modern EQ range styling.

Powerful Performance with Unique Features
The EQG concept is armed with four individually controllable wheel-mounted motors and a 2-speed gearbox offering low-range and high-range gearing. This quad-motor powertrain is anticipated to carry over into the production model, promising an impressive 0-100kph time. Notably, the EQG will feature a unique G-Turn function, allowing a 360-degree tank turn on the spot, a feature activated by a dashboard-mounted button.
Shaping the Future of Electric Luxury
Mercedes-Benz aims to reshape the perception of electric vehicles with the EQG, offering both performance and distinctive capabilities. As the production-spec model nears, the EQG is set to join the lineup of Mercedes-Benz's new EQ range, providing an eco-friendly alternative with cutting-edge technology.
