Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe redefines electric performance and luxury
The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV blends electrification with AMG’s signature performance, offering next-level power, technology, and luxury.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupe introduces a new era in electric performance cars, combining advanced technology with traditional AMG character. This four-door sports car is Mercedes-Benz’s most ambitious technical project, aiming to blend the excitement of a classic V8 with the innovation of electric propulsion.
Key Highlights
- AMG GT 63 produces 1,169 HP and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2.1 seconds
- Axial flux motors and 800V battery enable 600 kW peak DC charging and up to 700 km WLTP range
- Active ride control and rear-axle steering enhance handling and comfort
- V8 sound experience uses over 1,600 sound files and haptic gear-shift simulation
Performance and Powertrain Details
The AMG GT 4-Door Coupe comes in two main variants. The GT 63 features three axial flux motors—two at the rear and one at the front—delivering a combined peak output of 1,169 HP. With launch control, it accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 2.1 seconds and reaches 200 kph in 6.4 seconds. The GT 55 variant produces 816 HP, achieving a sub-3-second 0-100 kph sprint. The GT 55 offers a 55-second power boost, while the GT 63 extends this to 63 seconds, adding 150 HP with a simultaneous pull of both steering paddles. Both models can reach 300 kph with the optional driver's package.
The quoted WLTP range is 700 km for the GT 55 and up to 696 km for the GT 63. The drivetrain uses axial flux motors, a first for series production electric cars. These motors, developed with YASA, are compact and efficient, allowing high power density. The rear motors share a housing just eight centimeters wide each, and the front motor measures nine centimeters.
Design and Practicality
The exterior features a concave grille with vertical slats, an illuminated Mercedes star, and distinctive headlights. The rear showcases six circular taillights with star graphics and an active diffuser. Inside, a glass display merges a 10.2-inch instrument cluster with a 14-inch multimedia monitor. Three rotary dials control AMG Race functions.
Rear passengers have individual seats and foot garges. Boot space is 507 litres, with an additional 62-liter frunk. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe sets a new benchmark for electric performance cars, combining advanced engineering with a focus on emotional driving experiences.
Battery and Charging Technology
The battery uses an 800V architecture and contains 2,660 cylindrical cells cooled by electrically non-conductive oil. This direct-cooling system enables rapid charging and high performance. The car supports peak DC charging at 600 kW, allowing 460 km of range to be added in ten minutes. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes eleven minutes. The battery can deliver a continuous output of 721 HP, supporting repeated high-performance use, including track sessions.
Driving Experience and Interior Features
AMG has engineered the GT 4-Door Coupe to deliver an emotional driving experience. In AMG FORCE S+ mode, the car recreates the sound of a V8 engine using over 1,600 sound files, mixed in real time. Haptic gear-shift interruptions simulate a twin-clutch transmission, and the central display shows a tachometer that mimics engine revs. The soundtrack and ambient sounds adapt to driving style and vehicle status.
The suspension system is new, featuring active ride control with hydraulically interconnected dampers and no conventional anti-roll bars. Rear-axle steering provides up to six degrees of movement, improving agility at low speeds and stability at high speeds. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system uses independent rear motors for torque vectoring, eliminating the need for a traditional differential.
Active aerodynamics include underbody Venturi panels, a rear diffuser, a speed-sensitive spoiler, and an air panel system with nine-stage vertical louvers. The car’s body is 4 cm lower than the previous V8 model, measuring 1,411 mm in height and 5,094 mm in length. The drag coefficient is 0.22 Cd, and the kerb weight is 2,460 kg.
