Mercedes-Benz Launches CLA Electric in India at Rs 55 Lakh with 792 Km Range

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the all-new CLA BEV in India, marking the debut of its next-generation electric vehicle platform. The starting price for the top-spec Launch Edition is Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric sedan comes in three variants: CLA 200 Standard Range, CLA 250+ Long Range, and CLA 250+ Launch Edition.

Key Specifications and Performance

The CLA 250+ variants offer a claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km, while the CLA 200 Standard Range delivers 542 km. The CLA 250+ uses an 800V architecture, enabling fast charging. It can add up to 400 km of range in 20 minutes using a DC fast charger. The CLA 200 can add around 320 km in the same time frame.

In terms of power, the CLA 250+ produces 200 kW (approximately 268 hp) and 335 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. The CLA 200 generates 165 kW and completes 0-100 kmph in 7.5 seconds. All variants have a top speed limited to 210 kmph.

Design, Technology, and Features

The CLA BEV is the first model in India to use Mercedes-Benz’s new MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform. It debuts MB.OS, the brand’s new software architecture, and the latest MBUX system. The car integrates AI and connected technology, using NVIDIA chips and supporting ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google-based services. An intelligent virtual assistant helps with navigation, charging, and vehicle settings.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2 come standard, with future upgrades possible via over-the-air (OTA) updates. The car also supports OTA software updates for continuous improvements.

The CLA BEV features a fastback design with a drag coefficient of 0.21. The front includes an illuminated grille with over 100 star elements and connected LED lighting. The design follows Mercedes’ ‘Sensual Purity’ philosophy, emphasizing clean surfaces and minimal lines.

Inside, the CLA BEV offers a tech-focused cabin with a large Superscreen setup on higher variants, premium materials, and a panoramic sunroof with heat protection. The Launch Edition includes exclusive paint, AMG styling, ambient lighting upgrades, and more.

Ownership, Warranty, and Charging Network

Mercedes-Benz provides an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty for the CLA BEV. Service packages start at Rs 60,000 for four years. Buyers gain access to the MB.CHARGE public network, which now has over 9,000 charging points across India. The new High-Voltage Battery Report offers detailed battery health information to improve transparency for EV buyers.

Finance options include EMIs from about Rs 62,000 per month and a guaranteed buyback value of up to 59 percent. Deliveries for the CLA 250+ Long Range will begin by end-April 2026, with the Standard Range following from June.
