MG Windsor EV’s top-end Essence Pro variant now costs Rs 21,000 more, reflecting market trends. Despite the hike, it remains a strong contender in India’s electric SUV segment with a 449 km range and advanced features.

MG Windsor EV Essence Pro Price Increased by Rs 21,000: Still Worth It?

MG Motors India has recently announced that there shall be an increase in the price of its popular electric vehicle that was launched in October last year. As per the reports, following the success of the entry-level MG Windsor, the brand decided to launch a premium version, known as the Windsor EV Pro. In 2025, the model received a positive response from the buyers and sold over 8000 units in 24 hours.

Even the base model, MG Windsor, also received 15,176 bookings in the last 24 hours in May 2025. Now, with immediate effect, the actual cost of the car is being increased by Rs 21,000. This price hike will only be available for the top-end model of the Windsor lineup. Let’s check out the new pricing of the car and any updates offered after the hike in prices.

The MG Windsor Essence Pro price will be hiked from July 2025

MG Motor India has recently announced a price increase for its popular electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, effective immediately. This price hike is only on the top-end variant of the car, the Essence Pro EV, which is now Rs 21,000 costlier

When the MG Windsor Essence Pro was introduced to the market, it was priced around Rs 17.49 Lakh. Since the day of its debut, the car was applicable for the first 8,000 bookings. As the demand increased, all 8,000 bookings were exhausted in just 24 hours. Seeing this, the prices were raised by Rs 60,000. After the price rose, the car was now available at Rs 18.10 lakh for Indian customers.

Why the hike in the price?

MG Motor has not officially stated any reason for such a hike in price for the Windsor EV. However, various analysts from the industry suggest that increasing input costs and a global rise in tariffs across the country have led the board to take such immediate measures. Alas, the market conditions are spontaneously changing.

MG Motor has not publicly elaborated on the reasons behind the price revision. However, industry analysts attribute the increase to rising input costs and changing market conditions. The brand had previously introduced the Pro variants only a few months ago, and now, with an increase of Rs 21,000, the price of the MG Windsor Essence Pro EV costs around Rs 18.31 lakh.

Price Details and Variants

The MG Windsor EV lineup includes 5 trim levels for Indian customers.

  • Excite
  • Exclusive
  • Essence
  • Exclusive Pro
  • Essence Pro (top-spec)

The top model, Essence Pro, will only be hiked by Rs 21,000. Although customers have the option of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, it might lower the cost. However, under the BaaS, the fixed charge is Rs 4.5 per kilometer for battery usage. Finally, the actual cost of the 2025 edition of MG Windsor Essence Pro will be Rs 13.31 Lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Conclusion

As per the reports, with the increase in price of Rs 21,000, the top model might become costlier than before. The sales of the particular variant can reflect the market-driven sales growth. Buyers might not be interested in going for the top model choice due to the increase in prices. However, with enriched features and comfortable riding, the vehicle still turns the heads of customers.
