Nissan will soon introduce its premium electric SUV, the Ariya EV, to the Indian market in the coming months. This move follows the upcoming launch of the X-Trail SUV, scheduled for August 1. The Ariya EV, which made its global debut in 2020, is expected to be positioned above the X-Trail in Nissan's India line-up.
Key aspects of the Nissan Ariya EV include:
- Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-EV platform
- Coupe-like design with a distinctive shoulder line
- Minimalist interior featuring dual 12.3-inch screens
- Available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations
- Two battery options: 63kWh and 87kWh
The Ariya EV offers various powertrain choices globally:
1. 63kWh battery: 217hp, 300Nm, 402km range
2. 87kWh battery: 242hp, 300Nm, up to 529km range
3. Top-spec 87kWh: 306hp, 600Nm, up to 513km range
The Ariya EV boasts advanced driver assistance features, including an enhanced version of Nissan's ProPilot system. Safety is a priority, with the Ariya EV earning a five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests conducted in 2022.
As a full import, the Ariya EV will target the niche high-end SUV market in India. Reports suggest that the first batch of up to 50 units has already been imported, indicating Nissan's commitment to introducing this model to Indian consumers.
While specific pricing details are yet to be announced, the Ariya EV is expected to compete with other premium electric SUVs in the market. As Nissan expands its electric vehicle offerings in India, the Ariya represents a significant step in the company's electrification strategy for the region.
More information about the Ariya EV's Indian specifications, features, and pricing is anticipated in the coming months as Nissan prepares for its official launch.
