Nissan is making plans to increase its product portfolio in India. The French carmaker is planning a comeback in India’s mid-size SUV segment. With the latest design and technology, the brand is getting ready to unveil the much-anticipated model, the Nissan Tekton. According to the latest report, the upcoming SUV is being spotted while testing on Indian roads.
The car was heavily camouflaged but showcases Nissan’s strategic next step to challenge popular competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. With its imposing boxy design and rugged stance, it exudes the confidence expected from a serious SUV contender. Let us take a look at the recently surfaced spy shot of the upcoming Nissan Tekton.
A Miniature Patrol-Inspired Look

Talking about its design, the upcoming SUV might be the same as the Universal Nissan dialect. The aero design leans heavily on the iconic Nissan Patrol for inspiration. The front fascia of the car features a tall, boxy silhouette with a bold, upright stance. Recent spy shots reveal a wide front grille complemented by slim, C-shaped LED headlamps that give the SUV a sharp and confident face.
At the rear, a full-width LED light bar connects dynamic C-shaped tail lamps, emphasizing the car's sturdy yet modern character. The recent image that surfaced on the internet shows a wide bumper design and roof-mounted spoiler that add to the SUV’s athletic posture.
Nissan Tekton: Powertrain Specs
The all-new Nissan Tekton is expected to come with a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine producing around 154 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options will likely include both manual and CVT automatic. The SUV's engineering leverages the tried-and-tested CMF-B platform shared with global Nissan-Renault products, promising a blend of robust performance and good ride comfort.

Enriched Features

There are no official details about the specs and features the car will offer to Indian customers. We can expect features like the connected car technology, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), climate control with rear AC vents, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and possibly a 360-degree camera system.
For the higher trim level, if made available, the brand can offer ventilated front seats and a powered driver’s seat, which are also expected to elevate occupant comfort, making the Tekton a top contender in its segment when competing against rivals like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
Market Positioning
Nissan plans to manufacture the Tekton at its Chennai plant for both domestic and global markets. Positioned between the Nissan Magnite and X-Trail, the Tekton is expected to be priced competitively in the Rs 11-18 lakh range (ex-showroom). The brand has planned a launch in the second quarter of 2026.
Conclusion
Nissan Tekton is ready to become a strong rival in India’s crowded SUV segment. With attention-grabbing styling, modern technology, and competitive pricing, it has the potential to create a tectonic shift in Nissan’s fortunes in India. We can only assume that this car might perform better than its rivals.
