Nissan Motor India is gearing up to expand its product portfolio in India. The Japanese carmaker has recently revealed the name and offered a tantalizing preview of the latest design and the first glimpse of its latest SUV, the Nissan Tekton. The brand has announced that this upcoming SUV might rewrite the comeback story of Nissan in the Indian automotive landscape.
While looking at the car at first glance, I inferred that this upcoming SUV might disrupt the competitive C-SUV segment in India. The Tekton embodies a blend of precision engineering, premium craftsmanship, and robust reliability, with its initial launch in 2026. The company has also stated that this upcoming car will be built at Nissan’s Chennai facility under the One Car One World strategy in collaboration with Renault. Here’s everything you need to know about the all-new Tekton.
Nissan Tekton: What’s with the name?
The upcoming Nissan C-Segment SUV is tagged under a funky name, Tekton, which signifies its rugged and appealing styling. The name Tekton is derived from a Greek origin, which means "craftsmanship" or "architect." It aligns with Nissan’s principle of precision engineering and innovation that enriches lives. The name also signifies a powerful premium SUV that embodies engineering excellence, performance, and luxurious design. This car will be ideal for those who are willing to sacrifice for those who are shaping their world through careers, passions, and lifestyle.
Design Inspired by the Iconic Nissan Patrol

While talking about the exterior design of the car, the 2026 Nissan Tekton iteration draws its design inspiration from the terrain-conquering Nissan Patrol. When the vehicle arrives next year, it will combine bold aesthetics and a rugged stance, featuring a powerfully sculpted bonnet and signature C-shaped LED headlamps. At the front, the car will receive a front bumper with a muscular stance, creating a commanding road presence and projecting confidence and strength beyond its size.
When you look at the car from the side profile, you might witness an imposing muscular stance, designed to create an unmistakable silhouette. The front doors of the Tekton feature a double-C-shaped accent integrating a subtle mountain range motif inspired by the Himalayas. From the rear, the car comes with a red illuminated light bar running through the body contours. A connected C-shaped dynamic taillight for better visuals integrates with a Tekton nameplate badge across the tailgate below.
Premium Interior Craftsmanship
While the interior part of the Tekton had been completely wrapped under the curtain. The brand has not disclosed any further details about the interior of the car. However, we can expect a clean, well-furnished interior with premium leather upholstery. The dashboard might offer a host of modern features, like the large floating touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, and wireless connectivity integrated with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.
For safety, the car will be providing an ADAS suite, six airbags, and ABS with EBS as standard options across the available variants under the portfolio. The Tekton is also expected to offer front ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, and automatic climate control. Nissan has also confirmed that the upcoming Tekton will also share a chassis as well as hardware components with the upcoming Renault Duster.
Engine & Performance

Considering its powertrain unit, the upcoming C-SUV segment will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. This platform will also be present under the upcoming Renault Duster. Under the hood, the car will be powered by a 1.3L turbo-petrol engine that churns out 154 HP and 250 Nm of torque.
This engine will be robust and paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard. Moreover, the brand is making plans to bring a manual transmission configuration for Indian consumers. For the higher-trim levels, the brand is making arrangements to offer all-wheel drive for driving on higher terrains.
What’s Ahead?
Nissan plans to introduce the all-new Tekton in the second quarter of 2026. The C-SUV segment will be poised with competitors like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Vitara, and the legendary Toyota Hyryder. The brand is also planning to launch the all-new 7-seater based on the same CMF platform in the near future.
Conclusion
The all-new Nissan Tekton represents Nissan's commitment to delivering engineering excellence, innovative design, and an unmatched driving experience tailored to the aspirations of modern Indian customers. This launch marks a new chapter for Nissan Motor India, promising to redefine customer expectations and underscore the brand's renewed focus on quality, innovation, and growth in the country.
