Pre-owned luxury electric vehicles now account for 20–25% of total sales at Autobest Emperio, a premium automotive dealership based in New Delhi. This trend reflects a growing shift among buyers toward the secondary market for high-end electric vehicles, where significant discounts are available compared to original purchase prices.
Key Highlights
- Pre-owned luxury EVs make up 20–25 percent of Autobest Emporio sales.
- Used flagship EVs now compete in price with new entry-level luxury combustion vehicles.
- Dealership expects EVs to reach 50–60 percent of inventory in 12 to 18 months.
- Improved charging infrastructure and battery certification boost buyer confidence.
Rising Demand for Used Luxury EVs
Autobest Emperio has doubled its inventory of pre-owned luxury electric vehicles over the past year. The dealership attributes this growth to increased consumer interest in premium electric vehicles at lower ownership costs. According to the company, high-end electric vehicles typically depreciate by 40–50% within their first two years. This rapid depreciation makes used flagship luxury EVs price-competitive with new entry-level luxury combustion vehicles.
Enquiries for pre-owned luxury EVs now make up 15–20% of all luxury EV-related enquiries received by Autobest Emperio. The segment contributes around 20–25% of the dealership’s overall sales. Avneet Singh Kohli, Founder of Autobest Emperio, noted that luxury EV buyers have become more value-conscious. Many buyers are now willing to purchase a two-year-old premium EV to access flagship technology and performance at about half the original price. This shift is most noticeable in major metropolitan markets.
Factors Accelerating Adoption
Improving charging infrastructure and reduced range anxiety in major cities have also contributed to the increased adoption of pre-owned luxury EVs among affluent buyers. Autobest Emperio has responded by expanding battery health certification and diagnostic checks for the vehicles it sells. This move aims to provide buyers with greater assurance regarding battery condition and long-term reliability.
The dealership plans to expand into Gurgaon to strengthen its presence in the Delhi-NCR region. Autobest Emperio identifies Delhi-NCR as the largest market for luxury EV adoption, citing factors such as robust charging infrastructure, a high concentration of corporate wealth, and increasing EV penetration. Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad are also seen as key growth markets for pre-owned luxury electric vehicles.
Future Outlook and Company Background
Autobest Emperio expects electric vehicles to make up 50–60% of its total inventory within the next 12 to 18 months. The company cites growing consumer acceptance and an increasing supply of premium EVs entering the secondary market as key drivers for this projection.
Founded in 2010 by Sunny and Hunny, Autobest Emperio specializes in pre-owned luxury vehicles. The dealership offers high-end pre-owned cars from brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Range Rover, and Lamborghini. Autobest Emperio is headquartered in Delhi and continues to expand its footprint in India’s luxury automotive market.
CarBike 360 Says
The rising contribution of pre-owned luxury electric vehicles to Autobest Emperio’s sales signals a clear shift in buyer preferences toward sustainable yet premium mobility. As affordability meets luxury in the EV space, this segment is expected to grow further, reshaping the used car market and accelerating electric vehicle adoption across India in the coming years.
