Key Highlights

  • Rolls-Royce unveils Coachbuild Collection with limited-production electric vehicle
  • The program includes exclusive multi-year events and behind-the-scenes development access
  • Participation is by invitation through Private Office locations in five global cities
  • The first collection reflects feedback from Spectre owners and will be fully electric

The Coachbuild Collection is available only by invitation through Rolls-Royce's Private Office network, which operates in Dubai, Seoul, Shanghai, New York, and Goodwood. The program is aimed at collectors who already have a strong connection to the brand and wish to observe the creation of a vehicle, rather than influence its design. This approach distinguishes the Coachbuild Collection from traditional bespoke commissions.

Programme Structure and Client Experience

Each Coachbuild Collection will be produced in strictly limited numbers and will not be repeated. All vehicles are designed, engineered, and handbuilt by Rolls-Royce's in-house Coachbuild department, with no client input into the design process. The cars will be fully road-legal and homologated, intended for driving rather than display.

The ownership experience includes a multi-year series of private events and behind-the-scenes access to the vehicle's development. Clients will visit closed testing facilities to observe the car's performance and climate testing, tour internal design studios, and meet craftspeople from other luxury sectors. Designers will brief participants at private events in locations tied to the vehicle's development story. Rolls-Royce has not yet revealed the destinations for these events.

First Collection and Company Background

The first Coachbuild Collection vehicle will be fully electric. This decision follows feedback from owners of the Spectre, Rolls-Royce's first fully electric production car launched in 2023. Many Spectre owners are among the targeted collectors for the new program. Rolls-Royce states that the choice of electric power reflects client preferences, not regulatory requirements. Technical details, including production numbers, will be announced in April 2026.

Chief Executive Chris Brownridge said the program was developed after discussions with clients who wanted to see what Rolls-Royce would create with complete creative freedom. He described the ownership experience as inseparable from the car itself.

Coachbuilding has been central to Rolls-Royce since its founding in 1904. Early vehicles were rolling chassis supplied to independent coachbuilders, with design constraints to maintain the brand's identity. This tradition of controlled creativity has shaped the company's philosophy for over 120 years.

In recent years, Rolls-Royce has produced individual coachbuilt models such as the Sweptail (2017), Boat Tail (2021), and Droptail (2023), each developed with direct client collaboration. The Coachbuild Collection differs by originating entirely from Rolls-Royce, with no client input into the design, and offering the finished vehicle to a select group of buyers.
