Maruti Suzuki reecords 19.3% sales growth in June 2026, surpassing 2 lakh units

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported total sales of 200,390 units in June 2026, marking a 19.3 percent increase over 167,993 units sold in June 2025. This figure, however, is lower than the 242,688 units sold in May 2026. The company attributed its performance to strong growth in its domestic passenger vehicle categories.

Domestic Passenger Vehicle Segment

Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 147,187 units in June 2026, representing a 23.7 percent year-on-year increase. The entry-level mini sub-segment, which includes the Alto and S-Presso, saw sales rise by 78 percent to 11,416 units from 6,414 units in June 2025.

The combined compact and mid-size passenger car sub-segment, featuring models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, grew by 15.6 percent to 63,815 units. Together, the mini, compact, and mid-size segments accounted for 75,231 units, up 22.1 percent from the previous year.

The utility vehicles category, which includes the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, and XL6, expanded by 28.7 percent to 61,726 units, compared to 47,947 units in June 2025. The van segment, represented by the Eeco, recorded a 9.5 percent increase to 10,230 units from 9,340 units.

Industry Context and Competition

Passenger vehicle deliveries across the industry rose to 38,894 units, supported by new model launches and network expansion. The report also notes executive appointments aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence and deep-tech product development.

While Maruti Suzuki maintained its leadership in the Indian automotive market, competition for the second position remains active, with other manufacturers also reporting strong quarterly numbers.
