- Delivers impressive off-road performance.
- The rear seat can comfortably accommodate two large adults.
- Its styling makes it look extremely desirable.
- It handles large bumps and potholes with excellent composure.
- Its well-proportioned dimensions ensure good ergonomics.
What could have been better?
- Some areas feel built to a cost and lack a premium finish.
- The Jimny does not feel very dynamic to drive on regular roads.
- The engine lacks punch below 3,000 rpm and becomes loud beyond 4,000 rpm.
- The dark interiors and small glass area make the cabin feel less spacious.
- The boot space is suitable for small luggage and is larger than the Mahindra Thar’s.
Jimny Interior and Exterior

Positives:
- The Jimny retains a rugged, timeless look with upright A-pillars, a distinctive clamshell bonnet, and trapezoidal wheel arches.
- It gets practical exterior features like LED headlamps, headlamp washers, and scratch-resistant bumpers to maintain its off-road readiness.

- The interior is designed for functionality, with easy-to-use controls and toggle switches suited for rough terrains.

- It is offered in bold colours like Kinetic Yellow and Sizzling Red, allowing the Jimny to both blend in and stand out in the off-road scene.
Negatives:
- The interior is dominated by hard plastics, making it feel less premium than some rivals in this price segment.
- With its compact cabin, the Jimny is strictly a four-seater, limiting practicality for larger families and long journeys.
Jimny Convenience and Technology

Positives:
- The Jimny features Maruti’s 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system on the Alpha variant.

- All variants of the Maruti Jimny get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
- The Alpha variant gets auto climate control, keyless start, cruise control, and automatic headlamps as standard.
- The base Zeta variant comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, manual AC, and steel wheels, offering good value for its price.
- The practical drip rail prevents water from dripping while entering or exiting and also supports easy roof carrier installation.
- The cabin provides ample legroom and headroom for four passengers, ensuring comfortable travel even on long journeys.
Negatives:
- It lacks practical storage options like proper cup holders, door pockets, and bottle holders in the doors.
- Features such as a powered driver’s seat and a 360-degree camera are missing, even in the top variant.
- The cabin is dominated by hard plastics, which may feel too basic for some buyers at this price point.
Jimny Safety

Positives:
- All variants come standard with six airbags, hill-hold and hill descent control, ESP, and ABS with EBD for enhanced on-road and off-road safety.
- The brake-based Limited Slip Differential (LSD) helps the Jimny tackle slippery surfaces by redirecting torque to the wheels with better traction.
- It comes equipped with ISOFIX child seat mounts, side-impact door beams, and a reinforced ladder-frame chassis for improved crash safety.
Negatives:
- The Jimny is yet to be tested by NCAP for its crash safety rating.
- While it offers strong safety features, ADAS functions like lane departure warning are not available.
Jimny Engine and Performance

Positives:
- The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine tuned for off-roading, producing 103 bhp and 134 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
- Its low-range transfer case with ALLGRIP PRO enhances off-road capability and tackles tough terrains with ease.
- Both manual and automatic variants allow seamless switching between 2WD and 4WD, enhancing off-road capability.
- The ladder-frame chassis and three-link rigid axle suspension ensure strong durability and stable performance on rough terrains.
- With 210mm ground clearance and strong approach (36°) and departure (46°) angles, it tackles obstacles with ease.
- The 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission ensures smooth off-road driving, especially on steep slopes and uneven terrain.
- Hill Descent Control ensures safe and controlled driving on steep downhill terrains.
Negatives:
- The 4-speed automatic gearbox feels outdated and struggles to keep the engine in its ideal power band, especially at low revs.
- The manual gearbox has vague shifts, especially while engaging reverse, and may occasionally cause gear grinding.
- On-road driving feels less refined due to slow, unresponsive steering and a suspension setup tuned mainly for off-road use.
- The Jimny’s engine feels underpowered below 2,500 rpm, requiring extra effort for city driving and overtaking.
- The rigid suspension causes more side-to-side movement on uneven roads compared to modern SUVs.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny User Reviews
Good enough for me
The Jimny is a fun little off-roader that puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Its boxy styling and circular headlights are so charming. The 1.5L petrol engine may not be the most powerful, but it's peppy enough for my needs. I especially love the 4x4 system - it's taken me to some amazing places that would be impossible in a regular car. The cabin is basic but well-equipped. The touchscreen, auto climate control and cruise control make long drives comfortable. Rear space is a bit tight for adults, but perfect for my kids. Mileage is decent too at around 16 kmpl
Marvelous vehicle
The Maruti Jimny impresses with its attractive looks, affordable pricing, low maintenance costs, and reliable performance. It offers a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience both on and off the road. With its range of safety features, it prioritizes the well-being of occupants. If you're in the market for a capable and affordable compact SUV, the Maruti Jimny is definitely worth considering.
Powerful engine
Powered by a peppy yet fuel-efficient engine, the Jimny delivers sufficient power for daily driving and off-road adventures alike. The engine's reliability and durability are consistent with Maruti's reputation. This engine is good and never lacks in providing power.
