Maruti Suzuki May 2026 sales record highest ever monthly with 2.42 lakh units sold
Maruti Suzuki achieves a historic milestone in May 2026 with its highest monthly sales ever, reflecting strong market demand and consistent performance across segments.

Maruti Suzuki India has set a fresh benchmark in May 2026, clocking its highest‑ever monthly sales at 2,42,688 units across domestic, OEM, and export markets. Riding on strong demand for utility vehicles and a broad hatchback portfolio, the country’s largest carmaker has turned what is typically a steady summer month into a headline‑grabbing milestone for the industry this year as well.
Domestic sales alone hit a record 1,93,535 units in May, while exports rose to 41,914 units and sales to other OEMs stood at 7,239 units. Put together, Maruti Suzuki’s performance marks a sharp jump from 1,80,077 units in May 2025, underlining how quickly demand has rebounded across categories and channels for the brand in India and overseas this month too.
Record-Breaking May 2026 Performance
Maruti | Sales | May 2026 VS | Diff. | % Growth |
May 2026 | 1,90,337 | May 2025 (Y-o-Y) | 54,375 | 39.99% |
May 2025 | 1,35,962 | April 2026 (M-o-M) | 2,633 | 1.40% |
April 2026 | 1,87,704 | N/A | N/A | N/A |
In volume terms, Maruti Suzuki has bettered even its previous high of 2,36,963 units reported in January 2026, reaffirming the brand’s strong momentum in the first half of the calendar year. Total domestic sales, including passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, and supplies to other OEMs, reached 2,00,774 units in May 2026, compared with 1,48,858 units a year ago. On a two‑month basis (April–May), total sales have climbed to 4,82,334 units versus 3,59,868 units in the same period of FY 2025–26, pointing to robust double‑digit growth.
Within this, domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,90,337 units in May 2026, up from 1,35,962 units in May 2025, as demand strengthened across hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and vans. Over April–May 2026, domestic PV volumes have already touched 378,041 units, significantly higher than 2,74,666 units in the corresponding period last year, underscoring sustained retail traction at dealerships.
Passenger Vehicles Brings Sales Momentum

The utility vehicle portfolio continues to be Maruti Suzuki’s primary growth engine. UV sales, driven by models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Fronx, Invicto, Jimny, e Vitara, Victoris and XL6, surged to 79,267 units in May 2026, compared with 54,899 units a year earlier. This strong showing mirrors the broader industry shift towards SUVs and crossovers, where Maruti has rapidly expanded its line-up over the past few years.
Hatchbacks and Entry Cars Bounce Back
Despite the spotlight on SUVs, traditional strength areas like hatchbacks and compact sedans remain central to Maruti Suzuki’s strategy. Mini segment models such as the Alto and S‑Presso more than doubled their May volumes to 16,275 units from a relatively soft base of 6,776 units in May 2025. Compact and mid-size models, including the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, rose to 81,555 units in May 2026, up from 61,960 units a year ago.
Exports extend Maruti Suzuki’s Global Lead

For April–May 2026, exports have reached 81,968 units versus 59,130 units a year earlier, aligning with the company’s record FY 2025–26 performance of 4.47 lakh export units, a 34 percent year‑on‑year jump.
