Suzuki Gixxer 250 Recall: 5,000 Bikes Across The Nation Over Rear Brake Fault
Suzuki Motorcycle India has recalled over 5,000 Gixxer 250 models nationwide because of a rear brake mechanical issue. Owners of affected units can avail free inspection and repairs at authorized service centers.

A significant mechanical development has stagnated the future production unit of Suzuki Motorcycles in India. The brand has raised an issue and recalled two of its most anticipated models across the nation. These models are the Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer 250. The company recalled both of these models after a report revealed rear brake issues that would have a direct impact on the bikes' safety and overall performance.
Taking immediate action, Suzuki’s recall affected models manufactured between February 2022 and June 2025, which may have been affected by a defective rear brake assembly component. This immediate response signifies the company’s decision to prioritize the customer’s safety first and reinforces the critical importance of the mechanical fault selection and after-sales vigilance in the premium motorcycle market.
Reason for the recall
Suzuki Motorcycles India stated that the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer 250 models, which were manufactured from February 2022 to June 2025, are equipped with a rear brake caliper assembly similar to that of the V-Strom 250. This defective piece would later lead to the disruption of the brake pads and brake discs. While riding the bikes over longer distances, riders might face the uneven wear and tear of the pads, leading to the sudden incident.
Suzuki’s callback specifically targets the Gixxer 250 and its faired sibling, the Gixxer SF 250, with a total of 5,145 units acknowledged by the company as affected. Furthermore, the brand will fix the issue and even replace the defective part with a new one at no additional cost for the buyers.
Technical Details of the Issue
As an individual, this appears to be a less significant issue. However, it is highly concerning for the brand in terms of rider safety and the braking performance of bikes. If the bike is installed with a defective rear braking component, then the rider may cause more harm to the defective piece while riding or revving up at high speeds. This will lead to dragging brakes and even reduce braking ability.
You might also notice, as a rider, uneven brake pad wear, brake fluid leaks, or a spongy brake lever. If you detect any of these issues, it's crucial to stop riding and have the bike inspected by a mechanic immediately.
Suzuki's Response and Customer Support
To resolve the problem, Suzuki has started reaching out to the affected customers, inviting them to the nearest authorized service center for a service check and free new part installation of the faulty rear brake assembly. The company’s technicians will verify the issue and upgrade the parts, ensuring restoration of optimal braking performance without any additional cost.
Conclusion
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 and SF 250 owners are encouraged not to panic and visit the nearest authorized Suzuki service centers and dealership networks. Suzuki’s recall demonstrates a strong focus on safety, transparent communication, and lasting customer trust.
