Tata Safari & Harrier to Receive Petrol Variants This Fiscal Year
Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs can arrive with a petrol powertrain in their facelifted avatar. These engines could be new 1.5-liter TGDi petrol motors capable of delivering 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque.

Tata Motors, India's most trusted automobile manufacturer, is reportedly working on the facelift version of its flagship Safari and Harrier SUVs. These models received their last facelift a few years back, and now it's time for their mid-life makeover. The Safari and Harrier facelift prototypes have been spotted several times testing on Indian roads, hinting at their launch in the market.

Tata hasn't revealed any details about these upcoming SUVs, but it's confirmed that the facelifted version of these models will not be just a subtle makeover but several feature enhancements and tweaks to both the inside and outside of the vehicle. The automaker can also offer a major change in terms of powertrain by offering customers a petrol variant.
Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs can arrive with a petrol powertrain in their facelifted avatar. These engines could be new 1.5-liter TGDi petrol motors capable of delivering 168 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. It may be fitted with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT automatic unit.
Tata Motors has offered a 1.2-liter TGDi petrol engine in its newly launched Tata Curvv, and this engine is capable of producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Moreover, the engine unit is paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. Another notable feature expected is the addition of the Level 2 ADAS suite.
All in all, the Indian automaker is going to provide significant upgrades for its Harrier and Safari SUV lineup as part of their mid-life update. It would be the first time that these flagship models will receive a petrol powertrain option. Indian customers can expect petrol variants of these models to have a price difference of up to Rs 1 lakh compared to diesel-powered variants.
