Tata Sierra Certified Mileage and Engine Options Revealed

Tata Motors released the initial pricing for the new Sierra in November last year, starting at Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV is available with three engine choices and five powertrain configurations. Official ARAI-certified mileage figures for each variant are now available.

Engine Options and Powertrains

The Tata Sierra offers three engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine comes with two transmission choices. The six-speed manual variant delivers an ARAI-certified mileage of 17.40 kmpl. The seven-speed DCT variant offers 16.90 kmpl.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is available only with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This combination achieves an ARAI-certified mileage of 15.30 kmpl.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is offered with both a six-speed manual and a torque converter automatic transmission. The manual diesel variant delivers a certified mileage of 21.26 kmpl, while the automatic diesel variant provides 19.22 kmpl.

Certified Mileage Figures

The Sierra's mileage figures reflect its range of engine and transmission options. The diesel manual variant offers the highest efficiency at 21.26 kmpl. The diesel automatic follows with 19.22 kmpl. Among petrol options, the NA petrol manual achieves 17.40 kmpl, while the DCT version records 16.90 kmpl. The turbo-petrol automatic variant delivers 15.30 kmpl.

These figures are based on ARAI certification and may differ from real-world driving conditions. Tata Motors recently conducted a real-world mileage test for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with the six-speed automatic transmission. Results from this test will provide further insights into actual fuel efficiency.
